Classification of Particle Size Density for Cement Production

The final step in cement production is the grinding of clinker with gypsum and supplementary materials (blast furnace slag, fly ash…).

Clinker is an intermediate product, formed in a rotary kiln at 1450°C. The particle size distribution of the clinker depends on the conditions in the rotary kiln. As many different fuels are used, kiln conditions can change quickly and therefore the particle size distribution of the clinker. Of course the particle size distribution (PSD) of the clinker has an effect of the mill, where the clinker is ground together with gypsum to a PSD

An automated image recognition of the PSD of the clinker would be a huge benefit as these data can be supplied to the process control of the cement mill and the necessary parameters can be adjusted automatically.
