Postdoc in Building Services for Low-temperature District Heating Systems

Department of Civil Engineering at Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Section of Energy and Services is seeking a postdoc in the field of building services for low-temperature district heating.

Responsibilities and tasks
We expect that the postdoc candidate will participate in both national and international research projects aiming to investigate different aspects of how to prepare existing and new buildings for low-temperature district heating. The main task is to help develop and write a handbook on the tools and methods for how to implement low-temperature district heating and begin a transition towards lower temperatures in existing district heating grids. In this regard, the candidate will describe relevant case studies, perform/analyze/report on experimental work in case buildings, and carry out calculations and investigations of relevance to heating systems and energy demand of buildings.

Project results are disseminated through project reports, scientific papers, and oral presentations. It is therefore expected that the candidate will participate in conferences and write both reports and scientific papers.

The candidate will participate in the department work on teaching and applying for relevant funding. In this regard, the candidate will contribute to the DTU course on sustainable district heating, by holding lectures and being in charge of assignment work.

Qualifications
Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent.

Qualified applicants should have:

  • Expertise in heating systems and building services for low-temperature district heating
  • Expertise in thermal building performance simulation by use of e.g. IDA ICE
  • Knowledge of typical Danish buildings and district heating systems
  • Experience in carrying out relevant measurements and tests on heating systems in case study buildings
  • Good communication skills in Danish and English, both written and spoken

Further qualifications:

  • Teaching experience is a benefit
  • Experience in applying for relevant funding is a benefit
  • We expect that you are able to work independently and have good skills in planning and carrying out project work

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.

The period of employment is until end December 2020.
