The Lightweight section of the Material Engineering Division is responsible for the localization, development and evaluation of metal and plastic materials used in the car, i.e. high strength steel, aluminum and fiber reinforced plastics for the purpose of reducing the weight of the car, thus contribute to CO2 reduction of vehicles.

- Conduct molding trial and evaluate mechanical performance
- Clarify reason of superior mechanical performance through suitable analysis
- Propose further improvement and suitable candidate parts
- Assess weight and cost impact
2- Feasibility study of CFRP recycling
- Analyze existing resins and evaluate properties (mechanical and physical)
- Conduct molding/recycling trial to assess the merit and limitation of such resins.
