Internship in HR automation in Denmark’s largest international NGO

Dansk Flygtningehjælp

Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly skilled student for a 3-month internship to focus on automation of various HR processes to improve DRC’s efficiency and professionalism.

DRC employs over 8,000 staff in 40 countries. We post around 3,000 vacancies annually, receiving over 250,000 applications per year. This creates a large volume of work for an organization with limited funds; every year, we receive 15,000 queries from potential candidates and spend more than 20,000 hours screening and interviewing candidates. DRC has an ambition of automating many of these processes (including the subsequent contract management, onboarding, and learning and development) through digital solutions, artificial intelligence and robotics.

As intern, your task will therefore be to help us identify potential areas which we can make smarter and more efficient. Your role will consist of:

  • Mapping current HR processes (in particular within recruitment, onboarding and learning & development) which can benefit from automation
  • Provide recommendations, based on academia and best-practice, on how to improve said processes
  • Whenever feasible, develop demos, mock-ups and potential pilotable solutions

To be successful in this internship we expect you to love data, digital solutions and technology – while having an advanced understanding of HR processes. More specifically, we expect the following:

  • Currently enrolled in an academic institution studying HR, organizational studies, data management or similar
  • Demonstrable understanding of automation, AI, digital solutions and robotics
  • Advanced knowledge of Human Resources
  • Fluency in English

  • Fluency in Scandinavian languages and/or French
  • International experience (professionally and/or through studies)
  • Previous working experience in HR and/or data management
  • Basic experience in programming (e.g., HTML or chatbots)

In this position, you are expected to demonstrate DRC’ five core competencies:

  • Striving for excellence: You focus on reaching results while ensuring an efficient process.
  • Collaborating: You involve relevant parties and encourage feedback.
  • Taking the lead: You take ownership and initiative while aiming for innovation.
  • Communicating: You listen and speak effectively and honestly.
  • Demonstrating integrity: You uphold and promote the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct in relation to DRC’s values and Code of Conduct, including safeguarding against sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment.

  • Length of internship: 3 months (start date 1 April 2019)
  • Working hours: 30-35 hours per week (including lunch)
  • Work place: Borgergade 10 in downtown Copenhagen, close to metro and trains. You will be joining the small and highly ambitious Talent Management team consisting of 5 people, where we focus on working professionally, providing high-quality results to the organization whilst having fun in an informal work setting.
  • Compensation: The internship does not carry any monthly salary, but free lunch will be provided. You will also have full access to thousands of courses relevant to your long-term ambitions through DRC’s Learning Catalogue

All applicants must upload a cover letter and an updated CV (no longer than four pages) in English through our career pages. Applications sent by email will not be considered.

Closing date for applications: 28 February 2019
