Region Hovedstaden

Ph.d. & forskning

Centre of Excellence for Health, Immunity and Infections (CHIP), Rigshospitalet

We are looking for a full‐time biostatistician for projects at CHIP, Department of Infectious Diseases at Rigshospitalet ( CHIP is an integral part of the Department of Infectious Diseases at Rigshospitalet. CHIP was founded in 1998 to plan and execute clinical research of excellence on therapies for infectious diseases in general and for HIV in particular. CHIP has an extensive international collaboration with a track of cutting edge clinical research, both cohort and controlled trials.

CHIP is the appointed coordinating centre of the newly formed International Cohort Consortium of Infectious Disease (RESPOND) which has been formed with the guiding principle to allow for continued outstanding research collaboration between HIV cohorts across the European continent and beyond.

The aim of RESPOND is to build an innovative, flexible and dynamic cohort consortium for the study of infectious diseases, including HIV and people at risk for HIV, as a generic structure for facilitating multi stakeholder involvement. This consortium builds upon the outstanding collaborative work in HIV cohort studies that has taken place in Europe and beyond over the last 20 years and which has provided crucial information contributing to the improvement in the lives of HIV-positive individuals.

Together with international collaborators CHIP has secured EU-funding to launch the Common Action against HIV/TB/HCV across the Regions of Europe (CARE). The overall objective of CARE (Common Action against HIV/TB/HCV across the Regions of Europe) is to analyse and combat the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), tuberculosis (TB) and hepatitis C (HCV) epidemics across the European Region with a specific focus on the Russian Federation, Georgia and Ukraine, through the establishment and expansion of previously created EU-Russian networks. The consortium consists of cutting edge scientists from across Europe including Russia able to collectively address ongoing public health challenges related to HIV, TB and HCV.

PERSIMUNE is the Danish Centre of Excellence for Personalized Medicine of infectious complications in immune deficiency and is also part of CHIP ( PERSIMUNE has an underlying hypothesis that across patient with impaired immune function, there is a common pattern of undiscovered risk factors explaining the variation in risk of infectious complications among groups of immunocompromised patients. PERSIMUNE aims at understanding the mechanisms explaining the variation in risk using a diverse set of methodologies, including pattern recognition from big data from routine care, studies of host and microbial genetics, imaging, and immunological characterization. It is a collaborative, multidisciplinary research platform across different departments at Rigshospitalet with a world class data lake and biobank.

The position is initially for a one-year period where you and key researchers will work on data analyses collected from participants enrolled in CARE, RESPOND and PERSIMUNE. Candidates should have background in the medical research and an interest in infectious diseases. You are expected to be proficient in statistical packages such as SAS, R or STATA and have previous experience with analyses of cohort studies and longitudinal clinical data. At the same time, you will pursue a scientific career, under the supervision of experienced researchers, presenting research findings at national and international conferences and publishing manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals.

One of the first tasks of this position is to conduct a meta-analysis merging individual patient data of participants with Hepatitis C in multiple cohorts collaborating with CARE. Subsequently the biostatistician is expected to be involved in data analyses of RESPOND and PERSIMUNE participants.

You are biostatistician or have a relevant Master’s Degree in biostatistics, epidemiology or equivalent. Candidates with research experience or with a PhD degree will be preferred. You have excellent IT and communication skills and are able to use English as working language and communicate statistical concepts effectively to those with only minimal statistical knowledge. For interested candidates at an initial stage in their careers, it will be possible to pursue a PhD.
