Part-time Lab Manager to the IxD lab at the IT University of Copenhagen

The IT University of Copenhagen invites applications for a part-time position as Lab Manager at the IxD lab.

The proposed starting date is 1 April 2019 or soon thereafter.

Job description
The Lab Manager will be taking on the administrative and daily management of the IxD Lab. In collaboration with the academic management of the IxD Lab.

The Lab Manager will be responsible for supporting research projects which rely on the IxD lab. This may also include independently acquiring expertise beyond general fabrication and electronics to provide the necessary support.

The Lab Manager is responsible for maintaining the machine park in the IxD lab’s workspace for all non-electronic prototyping. The Lab Manager is expected to work with academic staff regarding budget management and acquisitions for courses and research as well as maintain and update the basic material stock in the lab.

The Lab Manager may be required to organize workshops aimed at teaching specific skills, materials, or technologies preparing the students for their constructive project or exam work and provide technical support to students such as embedded coding, electronics, fabrication etc.

Finally, the Lab Manager is responsible for ensuring IxD lab’s collaboration with the other design-oriented labs at ITU as well as the ITU Lab council.

The IxD Lab
The IxD Lab is a place where we build ideas. It is a space for working with research questions that demands physical explorations into new forms of interaction and into new material and computational expressions.

We expect you to have competencies in general electronics, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, JS, Processing and the like as well as extensive experience with using and maintaining a laser-cutter, CNC mill, and 3D printers.

Further, you must be:

• Pedagogical

• Ready to communicate clearly with a wide range of personalities and

• Capable of independently organizing and conducting workshops

Previous teaching experiences will be an advantage.

Appointment and Salary
Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC).

The position is part-time, 25 hours per week.
