The Department of People and Technology at Roskilde University offers two PhD positions affiliated to the Programme for Learning, Working Life and Social Innovation. The position as PhD fellow is limited to a period of 3 years.

Applications are requested within the following themes:

    • Working life – with a particular interest in changes in traditional forms of work, eg because of digitalisation, platform economy, precarisation and voluntary work. Several perspectives are relevant, for example gender, identity, meaning, stress, learning, communities and social relations
    • Social sustainability, social interventions and/or ethics in social, organizational or societal relations, including social entrepreneurship

    The Doctoral School
    You will be enrolled as a PhD student at the Doctoral School of People and Technology affiliated to the PhD Programme for Learning, Working Life and Social Innovation.

    The PhD programme revolves around opportunities and constraints for learning, development and innovation in work, education and civil society. Centrally, the goal is to explore issues with an interdisciplinary approach and a research-interest that contributes to develop participation, influence and democracy.     The PhD School for People and Technology conducts research aimed at sustainable solutions, often through experimental approaches and from a perspective of supporting people's active and learning engagement. The department covers human, social, health and IT-science, as well as planning, intervention and design-oriented disciplines. The PhD school has 5 PhD programmes, each with their own focus points: 1/ Learning, Working Life and Social Innovation, 2/ Social Psychology of Everyday Life, 3/ Information Technology, 4/ Society, Space and Technology, and 5/ Health and Society.     Responsibilities and tasks
    The PhD position is an educational position and the main tasks in the position are defined as follows in accordance with the Executive Order on the PhD programme at universities and certain artistic educational institutions (PhD Executive Order), currently Executive Order no. 1039 of 27/08/2013:

    • Implementation of an independent research project under supervision (the PhD project).
    • Completing PhD courses or other similar educational elements comprising the equivalent of approx. 30 ECTS credits.
    • Participation in active research environments, including stays at other, primarily foreign, research institutions, private research companies, etc.
    • Obtaining experience with teaching activities or other forms of knowledge dissemination related to the PhD project in question.
    • Preparation of a PhD thesis based on the PhD project.

    Qualifications
    Applicants must have a relevant master's degree or equivalent qualification.

    Assessment
    The assessment of candidates for the position will consider:

    • A relevant master's degree or equivalent.
    • Other academic qualifications described in the job advertisement.

    The assessment for enrolment will also consider:

    • The project description and schedule for the PhD project - 5-8 pages.
    • Quality and relevance of the methodological and theoretical choices
    • Consistency and coherence between the project and the choice of method and theory
    • Relevance of the project for the PhD school
    • Ability to complete the PhD project
    • Educational qualifications and any additional professional qualifications, e.g. relevant professional experience and publications

    Terms of employment

    This is a full-time position, reporting to the head of department, Anders Siig Andersen.

    The position will be filled according to the Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) and Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities.

    Application procedure
    After the deadline for applications the Head of Department will shortlist applicants for assessment with assistance from the recruitment committee including the chairperson of the assessment committee.

    Shortly after the application deadline all applicants will be notified whether or not their application has been selected for assessment.

    The shortlisted applicants will be informed about the composition of the assessment committee, and each applicant will be given the opportunity to comment on the composition of the committee and - later on - their assessment.

    Once the recruitment process is completed, all applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application.
