DTU Fotonik would like to invite applications for a 3-year PhD position in Experimental or Theoretical Nanophotonics.

In the Nanophotonics Section at DTU Fotonik , we perform fundamental experimental and theoretical research on the physics of light-matter interaction and explore possibilities for realizing new and improved photonic devices. Important areas of applications include quantum technology, integrated photonics, and devices that reduce global energy consumption.

Opportunities
With this call, we offer projects within a wide range of research topics, such as: Quantum photonics, nanolaser physics, metamaterials, structured electromagnetic materials, plasmonics, and integrated photonics for optical signal processing in communications or sensing devices. We participate in three National Centers of Excellence and have state-of-the-art facilities for nanofabrication and experimental characterization as well as for doing high-performance computer simulations.

We seek ambitious and motivated students with a very strong experimental and/or theoretical background, who are interested in joining active research teams within one or several of the cutting-edge areas mentioned above. In the application, you should clearly state your motivation and scientific interests.

Qualifications
Candidates should have a master's degree in engineering/physics or a similar degree with an equivalent academic level.

Approval and Enrolment
The scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval, and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes of DTU. For information about the general requirements for enrolment and the general planning of the scholarship studies, please see the DTU PhD Guide.

Assessment
The assessment of the applicants will be made by a Department panel.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 3 years.

Candidates may apply prior to obtaining their master's degree but cannot begin before having received it.
