Computational Design and Fabrication Intern / Autumn 2019


Are you interested in developing innovative computational solutions for architecture and design? Are you interested in working with a 3d printing farm?

We are looking for enthusiastic interns to join the knowledge-based prototyping practice. Our Copenhagen Fabrication Lab is actively developing computational methods and tools to streamline manufacturing of mock-ups, prototypes, and models in collaboration with Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architect ´s studio.

You will:
Get hands-on scripting/plug-in development experience by contributing to a set of internal software tools bridging the gap between design drawings and fabrication-ready files, specifically for prototyping and physical modeling.

Apply rapid prototyping techniques for representation of architectural models.

Work with our in-house printing farm to further the way we materialize ideas.

Internal training programs where you will be introduced to the most important aspects of construction and architecture.

About you:

  • You are a master’s or bachelor’s degree student, currently enrolled in an architecture program.
  • You are a Rhino super-user and have proven knowledge of both Python and Grasshopper for Rhino.
  • You want to master 3D printing and digital fabrication.
  • Above all, you are a fast learner, independent worker, and work well in teams.
  • Any of the following is a plus but not mandatory:
  • Background in computer science
  • Experience in a fabrication lab or workshop
  • Experience with the RhinoCommonAPI

When and how:
The internship period is August 2019 to February 2020 (six months) with the chance of extension up to one year.

We are continuously holding interviews. The position will be closed as soon as the right candidate is hired.
