Background
The Programme Platform Unit, in the Programme Division, in Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is looking for two talented interns to support our working in helping people affected by forced displacement. The Programme Platform unit is responsible for strengthening the strategic programme development, and systematically develop and effectively roll out the three programme platforms; Responding to Emergency, Solutions to Displacement, and Addressing Root Causes to Conflict and Displacement.

The Programme Platform unit consists of two programme platform leads, two interns, a civil society & partnerships advisor, and a number of project positions. The positions refers to the Head of Unit.

Overall objective
The two intern positions (information management intern and communications intern) enable the Programme Platform unit to work more effectively with operationalizing the Response Framework, and specifically work in support of the roll-out of the three programme platforms. The positions will support a variety of projects with communication, documentation, and internal information management.

DRC offers the interns the opportunity:

  • To gain experience working in the biggest NGO in Denmark, and support more than 35 country programmes;
  • To work independently with different tasks related to communications, fundraising, information and quality management, and other tasks relevant to the intern’s profile;
  • To be a part of a small and dynamic team.

Both interns will be supporting their colleagues while gaining valuable working experience.

Basic requirements:
The interns will work both individually and together as a team. Both interns should be able to meet the following requirements:

  • Be enlisted at a university for a relevant education at masters level (this is a prerequisite for the internship);
  • Be fluent in both written and spoken English;
  • Be effective in the use of MS Office;
  • Have good interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Be able to work independently as well as in a team;
  • Be able to work systematically with a good structure for the tasks that you are responsible for
  • Have an eye for the detail and strive to get the job done.

Qualifications
Information Management Intern
The intern will be working alongside other colleagues on matters concerning information and quality management, data management and analysis.

The Information Management Intern is expected to:

    • Project management: Support the International Department’s project model on 2020 projects and International Department investment project, by collecting quarterly status reports to the steering committee; preparing steering group meetings; prepare portfolio reports to management.
    • Support the Annual Review Process by collecting the annual review process documents and compile the strategic documents in a centralised folder system;
    • Strengthen communication and strategic workflow on Sustainable Development Goals in SDG-working group, with a particular focus on Goal 16
    • Supporting the Global Lead of the Addressing Root Causes platform, in her capacity as Chair of the Danish Network of Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding by Organize and support meetings and events of DNCPPB; Support the Network as needed; and the management of a Global Fokus grant.
    • Light research on relevant issues and other relevant ad hoc tasks
    • Strengthen Communication on DRC Response Framework and its three programme platforms; including supporting the production of platform specific communication material; available on web, intranet, and potential via SOME.
    • Strengthen the communication of Programme Division vis-à-vis the 35+ country programmes in creative and visual ways, including the concept of “DRC TALKS”, a
    • Support the development and roll-out of HQ level, regional and country Induction material
    • Help organise meetings and appointments as well as produce and distribute minutes of meetings
    • Light research on relevant issues and other relevant ad hoc tasks
    The student should be pursuing a graduate level degree in Development Studies, International Relations, Political Science or other related social science studies. Students with experience project management will have an advantage.

    Communications Intern
    The intern will be working alongside other colleagues on matters concerning communications, branding (visibility) and .

    The Communications Intern is expected to:

      The student should be pursuing a graduate level degree in Development Studies, Political Science, International Relations or other related social science studies. Students with experience in journalism, social media or other communication experience will be have an advantage.

      Conditions:
      Availability: 19th August 2019

      Duration: 5 months

      Working hours: 37 hours per week.

      The interns will be working at the DRC Headquarter in Copenhagen.

      The interns will report to the Head of the Programme Platform Unit.

      As the internships are part of the students’ education and as such, already are supported by the Danish State Education Fund, the internships are unpaid.
