At TrackMan, we perform high-accurate ball flight measurements in many different sports utilising primarily radar technology with all radar tracking being performed in the frequency-domain. In this project, you will investigate the feasibility of tracking golf balls in the time-domain using data from our state-of-the-art radar tracking units.
In our golf products, we perform all ball tracking in the frequency-domain, where we can deliver high-accuracy data to our customers shortly after the ball has been hit. However, tracking in the time-domain have some advantages over frequency-domain tracking that we would like you to investigate to see if time-domain tracking is something we should explore further in future products.
You will be working with our state-of-the-art radar-technology, and we have an endless amount of data to work within our existing databases. Below is a list of some of the challenges, you could be faced with during the project:
- Integration with active beamforming
- How do we handle interference from other moving objects?
- Are we able to track balls longer?
- How does the processing load compare to frequency-domain processing?
- How does data accuracy compare to frequency-domain processing?
You will also be able to steer the project in a direction that suits your interest, such as diving deeper into specific tracking challenges or expanding the scope to include other sports.
