Your mission
Your primary focus will be on our Flexible Living portfolio where we are developing new speaker concepts for the home. You will work in a cross-disciplinary team to create a rapid prototyping test bed for new speaker concepts in VR/XR and run user studies to explore different interactional possibilities for those concepts. Our idea is that your project will be the starting point for rapidly prototyping delightful human-machine interactions for new concepts very early in our development process, primarily by:

  • Working with Unity to create a UX test bed for VR/XR environments in our VR Lab
  • Creating a demonstrator which highlights the value of doing rapid UX prototyping with a speaker concept
  • Proactively designing user studies intended to understand user behaviour and attitudes across contexts of use
  • Making data-driven design recommendations
  • Effectively communicating results and illustrating suggestions to cross-disciplinary colleagues

Your network
You will join a cross-disciplinary team which brings together colleagues from UX, design, prototyping and research. Jumping in with both feet from day one, you become a supporting member. Our focus is on product design for future living. We are expanding into new territory and have a lot of ground to cover as we figure out how to best incorporate VR/XR into our rapid prototyping toolkit. Also, you will have a mentor from day one, making sure you will gain a deep understanding of and insight into your field.

Your internship
Based in Struer, we offer to provide accommodation in town during the internship so you can socialise with other students working at Bang & Olufsen. The position is an internship for the 2020 spring semester (flexible start date) and lasts one semester. You must be a current student to be considered. We are happy to accept a thesis project in this role.

What you bring
You are an advanced MSc student within medialogy, interaction design, engineering psychology or a similar cross-disciplinary field with expertise and interest in VR/XR. And you are able to include a portfolio (max 3-5 pages) demonstrating your experience doing interaction design with VR/XR in Unity and how insights from user research influences your approach. Moreover, you bring:

  • Advanced knowledge of Unity
  • Experience conducting user tests using qualitative and quantitative methodologies
  • Great communication skills in English
  • and the ability to deliver on your commitments
