Play your part in our team succeeding
The primary aim of the Materials department is to secure the right materials, fulfilling every demand on the immediate and the long term, in order to guarantee business continuity. The scope has a time horizon of 0-15 years.

Materials are the matter of which the products are made (polymers, colours, inks, metals), and therefore materials are important for the entire organization.

One focus area is to collect and interpret the complex information from the chemical industry, the scientific world and changing technical requirements in TLG with respect to production and product design.

The department also has to translate trends in consumer markets, regulation and sustainability into technical scope. Decisions about materials are based on these complex sets of information, rules and dependencies.

Your responsibilities
• Execute own projects and support projects

• Scope own projects based on requirements/questions from stakeholders in Materials as well as other (external) stakeholders.

• Perform materials characterization measurements

• Interpret results of the characterization and where possible link the results to the materials performance

• Create theoretical models that describe the correlation of materials performance to the materials properties

• Disseminate measurements to colleagues within the Materials area

• Leverage external contacts to benefit scientific knowledge building, including bridgebuilding to academia

• Contribute to writing of patent disclosures (provide technical input, and accurate description of the experiments, methods and results)

• Mentor students that are contributing to the scope of own projects

• Write scientific publications

To scope projects which are focused on both the needs for LEGO as well as a scientifically sound approach that will create a solid foundation for materials evaluation.

Ensure that key learnings and deeper technology insights are disseminated within the Materials department.

Do you have what it takes?
The overall mission for the position is to perform research activities that support new material development.
