Post-doctoral researcher in natural language processing

The IT University of Copenhagen invites applications for a postdoc position to research cross-domain and cross-language transfer methods for natural language processing. The ClinRead project at ITU Copenhagen, funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, needs a full time post-doctoral researcher in natural language processing starting 1 August 2020. The position is funded for 12 months, with possible extension. 100% of the time is allocated to research activities.

The project application domain is information extract over patient notes in clinical journals. This provides the scope to do basic research in transfer learning for NLP. The project is led by Dr. Leon Strømberg-Derczynski, who is an Assistant Professor in Computer Science at ITU.

Candidate

  • You must either: (a) hold a PhD in a discipline related to natural language processing; or (b) have an expected PhD award date (with evidence) before 31 January 2021, with all PhD documents submitted before 31 October 2020
  • You need to have published academic publications in natural language processing
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills are required
  • Applications from both industry and academia are welcome
  • The project works with Danish data, so proficiency in Danish is beneficial

The application must be in English and must include:

  • A motivated application, including a cogent argument for how qualified you are for the position and brief statements of research and teaching plans
  • A full CV, including name, address, phone number, e-mail, previous and present employment and academic background
  • Documentation of academic degrees (copy of degree certificates etc.)
  • Copies of 3-5 publications relevant to the position.
  • A numbered list of publications. The enclosed publications should be marked with an asterisk (*)

The IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) is a teaching and research-based tertiary institution concerned with information technology (IT) and the opportunities it offers. Research and teaching in information technology span all academic activities which involve computers including computer science, information and media sciences, humanities and social sciences, business impact and the commercialization of IT.

Salary
Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC).
