Responsible Business Conduct Intern at DanChurchAid

Are you motivated to support the development of strategic cross-sector partnerships and alliances to promote respect for human rights as a foundation for sustainable development? DanChurchAid (DCA) is looking for an engaged and pro-active intern to join the Private Sector Engagement Unit from medio August to January 2021. At DCA, we work to promote Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) principles and practices to ensure sustainable development in favour of people and planet, and are looking to engage a intern to support key tasks in support of project developments and human rights impact assessment components within the private sector engagement unit’s projects in Africa.

The ideal candidate is:

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant university programme (bachelor or master’s level)
  • Experienced with, or holds an academic interest in human rights, business, corporate social responsibility, and sustainable development.
  • Experienced or interested in working in an international humanitarian and development organisation.
  • Willing and able to perform high standard research and analysis on issues related to RBC, as well as support screening and project development activities.
  • Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Self-motivated, curious and enthusiastic team player.

Key Tasks

  • Carry out research and analysis related to the development of new projects and activities, most specifically an RBC project on civil society engagement in East Africa
  • Support project coordination of existing international partnerships and projects
  • Carry out company and sector screenings in adherence with DCA’s CSR guidelines
  • Contribute to strategic communication, including presentations, website, SoMe and articles
  • Support advocacy and policy work by participating in relevant events, meetings, and networking.
  • Support development of tools, guidelines and online learning platform.
  • Explore new trends and directions within sustainable business models, innovation, and learning
  • Coordination of activities and events related to e.g. UN Annual Forum on Business and Human Rights.

The internship provides an opportunity to gain an in-depth insight into DCA’s private sector engagement and RBC work, whilst adding key competencies to your CV. During the internship, you will be able to influence and direct the development and execution of our strategic partnerships and private sector efforts to promote corporate accountability and contribute to the achievement Sustainable Development Work

The weekly working time is generally 37 hours and the internship period is expected to commence medio August 2020 and end in January 2021. The internship is unpaid, but we offer good lunch arrangements and flexibility in relation to any university requirements. The working place is at Meldahlsgade 6, 3 sal. 1613 Copenhagen V (this may vary depending on current COVID-19 precautions).
