Cultivation and Cell Bank Scientist for CMC API Pilots

Novo Nordisk A/S

Bagsværd, Capital Region of Denmark, DK

Are you passionate about working with cultivation of microbial and mammalian cells? Do you thrive on working with state-of-the-art pilot technology and automation of cultivation processes? Do you want to join a dynamic, highly competent and expanding team in R&D? Then read on - you may be our new cultivation and cell bank scientist.

About the department
The scientist position is bridging the Cultivation team and the Cell Bank team both placed within the Cultivation Pilot Plants department. The department is part of CMC API Pilots with 250 colleagues. CMC API Pilots is a part of the R&D organisation, that manufactures and controls new drug substance candidates for the development portfolio at Novo Nordisk.

Cultivation Pilot Plants is a department that cultivates and purifies proteins and peptides, under GMP, for use in clinical and non-clinical trials. The department consists of two separate production facilities with four production lines as well as two cell bank facilities. The Cell bank team is responsible for producing and maintaining microbial cell banks for clinical trials and marketed products under GMP. We do so in close collaboration with the research unit as well as our quality assurance organisation, regulatory affairs and QC laboratories.

You will join approx. 80 colleagues working in different teams (cultivation, recovery, support and cell bank teams). In the department we are working with various technologies and equipment dependant on whether the platform is yeast, E. coli or mammalian cells and how the recovery process is designed (i.e. homogenisation, centrifugation, filtration, chromatography etc.).

The department is located in Bagsværd, Copenhagen, Denmark.

The job
As a Cultivation and Cell Bank Scientist your job will be to produce, store and maintain cell banks under GMP and support the API production. You will perform operational work in our laboratory and cell bank facility. You will assist the planning, execution and completion of microbial and mammalian cultivation processes and secure a process of high quality in terms of yield, robustness and campaign execution. A central part of your job will be handling of documentation. You will work with cLEAN and use this insight to ensure and continuously improve stable operations in the production of API for clinical and non-clinical trials. You will also be involved in audits and inspections by Health Authorities, because we produce and maintain Cell banks for all Novo Nordisk products produced by microbial cells in the department.

In this job you can look forward to joining a team that thrives on exciting professional challenges and works independently with great individual responsibility and a high level of commitment.
