Postdoc in Modelling of water transport and filtration systems for ultrathin carbon Nanomembranes

Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU)

Virksom - a-kasse og faglig organisation for selvstændige

Frist 8. april 2021

Do you want to work on a disruptive water technology that could make an impact on the way we treat and reuse our water in the future? At DTU Environment, we invite a visionary and passionate scientist to join our ITS-THIN project team as postdoc to explore the potential of ultrathin carbon nanomembranes (CNMs) and enable an unprecedented efficient water separation technology.

You will be working with European academic partners in ITS-THIN who will establish experimental and theoretical basis for understanding the transport phenomena as well as physical-chemical properties of CNMs. You task in modelling of systems and semi pilot will enable the industrial partners to translate scientific findings into cost-effective CNM production, modular integration and market-targeting technology implementation.

ITS-THIN spans the entire value chain, and you will be the driving force transforming the creative concept into a disruptive technology.

Responsibilities and qualifications
Your overall focus will be on the development of a tool evaluating the filtration rate and associated power consumption of complex filtration systems. The modelling of the systems will be based on a modular concept, though which system elements are assembled to build a virtual model of a filtration system.

Your primary tasks will be to:

  • Modelling of systems and semi pilot for two cases: ultrapure water production and forward-osmosis based cold concentration
  • Computational fluid dynamics modelling of water and solutes in micro scale structures
  • OPEX/CAPEX analysis for CNM-based systems

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).
