Are you studying within the field of engineering or materials science?
And are you interested in driving and maturing innovative solutions to prevent, suppress and limit Corrosion of our Mould Components?

Core responsibilities:
You will be part of our Mould Factory Technology team advising departments in the LEGO Group about mould manufacturing technology, while establishing robust and reliable production and validation processes for the production of mould parts with a focus on creating mould components for use in plastic injection moulds. As a student worker, you will:

• Conduct a deep literature study on corrosions of metallic materials in academia and in the industry, focusing on moulding application
• Complete a detailed internal research of the current process chain of mould components production (internal and external) to identify potential step/areas that represent a risk for initiating corrosion and need further research (next point)
• Define a robust design of experiment to determine root causes leading to the corrosion of mould components in the Mould Factory, conduct the experiments and provide scientifically sound data to our partners and internal stakeholders
• Define and ensure execution of different research projects in the department and collaboration with key stakeholders in the company, as well as drive strategic alignment of these projects following the strategic priorities for Engineering

Play your part in our team succeeding
Mould Factory Technology (MFT) pushes the digital agenda regarding use of CAD/CAM, MES/SCADA and simulation tools in order to establish a controlled, robust, reliable and industrialized mould production environment.

MFT needs a person to drive the tasks to establish knowledge about corrosion processes. This is especially relating to mould components from a holistic point of view (considering their manufacturing, machining, transportation, etc.), maturing solutions to handle the risk and creating robust and scalable working methods, processes and structures to be adopted internally and at sub-suppliers.

Do you have what it takes?
You are studying Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering or similar (either at the end of a bachelor’s degree or enrolled in a master’s degree). Furthermore, you have:

• Great interest in material science in particular; metallurgy, manufacturing processes and design of experiments.
• Likely some experience with corrosion of metals and knowledge with the relevant technologies and applications.
• Engineering flair and understanding (mechanical/material engineering) as well as business administration/innovation management/industrial engineering.
• Knowledge and experience with sensor and data handling will be an advantage.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Scientific mindset and structured way of work in solving problems.
