Position as Researcher available in EU-funded project about collaboration with vulnerable women for better cervical cancer screening strategies

Screening programmes to reduce morbidity and mortality from cervical cancer remain inaccessible or underused by socially deprived subpopulations. The EU-funded project CBIG-SCREEN seeks to implement better access to cervical cancer screening for vulnerable groups of women in European countries. The Consortium in the CBIG-SCREEN project is coordinated by the French National Institute for Health and Medical Research and brings together public health experts, cancer research institutes and organisations including the WHO International Agency for Research on Cancer in a collaborative European-wide effort to develop cervical cancer screening programmes tailored to vulnerable women.

The University Research Clinic for Cancer Screening at the Department of Public Health Programmes [Afdeling for Folkeundersøgelser], Randers Regional Hospital, Denmark is part of the Consortium and Work Package Leader on collaboration with vulnerable women, healthcare professionals, and policy makers in order to co-construct new policy interventions. To initiate this collaboration, the University Research Clinic for Cancer Screening seeks to fill an academic position as Researcher holding a PhD (2 years with possibility of renewal) or Research Assistant with PhD potential (3 years). The successful applicant will be expected to take up the position by August 2021 at the latest and preferably in June.

The successful applicant will demonstrate significant expertise in qualitative research methodologies and specifically user involvement of vulnerable groups in research. He or she should have teaching experience and be comfortable enough with co-constructive approaches to assist in teaching to our Consortium Partners and supervise workshops in Partner countries. Excellent collaboration skills are essential. The successful applicant is expected to have obtained a Master of Arts or Master of Science degree in Social Sciences, Anthropology, Public Health or a similar area. Working experience with vulnerable groups is desirable. We welcome applications from highly motivated candidates of any nationality.

The position will be hosted at The Department of Public Health Programmes at Randers Regional Hospital which manages all population-based cancer screening programmes in the Central Denmark Region. The scientific focus of the Department includes all aspects of cancer screening programmes from participation to testing as well as screening derived clinical procedures. Currently the research team includes a Professor in Screening, two Senior Researchers, a Post-Doctoral researcher and an Associate Professor, four PhD students, three junior research assistants, a data manager, a Senior Research Counsellor, and a Visiting Professor. For more information about the Department of Public Health Programmes, please visit www.cancerscreeningresearch.rm.dk.

Applicants should send a motivation letter in English and a CV, including a description of previous experience with co-constructive approaches and project management, as well as the names and addresses of two academic referees. The deadline for applications is May 26 2021 at 12:00.
