One year postdoc position in sound based affective interactions

Digital Design Department at the IT University of Copenhagen is looking for a strong candidate for a one-year postdoc position in sound-based affective interactions. The proposed starting date is 1 July 2021 or soon thereafter.

The IT University’s vision is to create and share knowledge that is profound and leads to ground-breaking information technology and services for the benefit of humanity. The Digital Design Department delivers society- and industry-relevant research and research-based education in the area of digital technology, media and design. Researchers in the department combine design theory with technological insights and a critical perspective on human and social aspects of digital design and services.

The postdoc will be affiliated with AIR LAB, which is a design space for changing felt relations through affective interactions.

The AIR LAB explores the affective and emotional aspects of living with digital and interactive technologies, and how affective interactions can change our relations to the world, each other and ourselves. In addition to hosting research and student projects within Biometrics, AR, VR, Sonic Interaction Design and Robotics, the LAB hosts talks, residencies, workshops and industry collaborations. The candidate should hold strong research skills in and contribute to the following areas:

  • sound-based affective interactions
  • participatory methods in interaction design
  • values and ethics in design

The candidate should be able to teach and supervise in the following areas:

  • sound based UX / interaction design
  • new sound based UX trends in health and medico
  • qualitative research approaches and methods

Application

  • Documentation of academic degrees (copy of degree certificates etc.)
  • Copies of max. 5 different publications that are relevant to the position
  • A numbered list of publications. The enclosed publications should be marked with an asterisk (*)

General information
The IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) is a teaching and research-based tertiary institution concerned with information technology (IT) and the opportunities it offers. The IT University has more than 160 full-time Faculty members. Research and teaching in information technology span all academic activities which involve computers including computer science, information and media sciences, humanities and social sciences, business impact and the commercialization of IT.

Salary
Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC).

The applicant will be assessed according to the Appointment Order from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of 13 March 2012.

The IT University may use shortlisting in connection to the recruitment process. In case of shortlisting, the Chair of the hiring committee selects applicants for assessment in consultation with the hiring committee after the application deadline. All applicants are notified whether their application has been passed for assessment. The shortlisting of candidates for assessment is based on the criteria in the job posting.
