Do you want to do more than just make coffee in your internship?

Are you motivated by driving social change through communication? Are you interested in human rights and want to develop your communication skills while working with Indigenous Peoples? Do you enjoy working independently within a small, dynamic team?

If so, then perhaps you are IWGIA’s new Communications Intern.

IWGIA is looking for a dedicated and skilled intern. You will contribute to our social media, press relations, and you will contribute to the planning and execution of events. 

Applications are welcome in either English and Danish and will be considered equally.

Tasks as Communications Intern

Your main tasks as our Communications Intern will be to:

  • Write content for our website and publications, including research.
  • Craft effective social media messages across our platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn 
  • Assist with the planning and execution of events

There will be plenty of opportunities to contribute with your experience while learning and expanding your knowledge. Let us know in your application if you have other skills that might be relevant.

There will be other related communications ad-hoc tasks as needed.

You will be reporting to IWGIA’s Communications group.

Skills

You are ideal for the job if you:

  • Have experience crafting messaging for social media channels for a variety of audiences
  • Have experience working with websites and CMS
  • Are able to work and communicate effectively and respectfully in a multi-cultural environment
  • Are passionate about promoting human rights and want to work in the development sector
  • Are proactive and like to work independently, but also have the drive to be part of a small, dynamic team
  • Are interested in learning more about Indigenous Peoples’ rights 
  • Are based in or can commute daily to Copenhagen
  • Are fluent in English and Danish
  • Are studying a relevant field, preferably Communication, Journalism, Anthropology, Political Science, Spanish or English

For IWGIA, it is important that our interns learn as much as possible. Therefore, you will have independent responsibilities with relevant support from other team members.

Application Details

The internship is full-time (37 hours per week). IWGIA can give proof of your work if the internship is a part of your studies. The internship is unpaid. The candidate must be based in Copenhagen and have the right to stay and work in Denmark.

Internship duration: August/September 2021 to December 2021 (exact dates tbd with candidate)
