1. Culture and Public Diplomacy (1 position)
The Position
The intern works at the intersection of US and Danish societal and cultural affairs, supporting the Consulate General’s effort to communicate and further Danish values and positions of strength in New York and across the US East Coast, pursue multilateral engagements with civil society actors and facilitate cultural exchange between Danish and American artists, cultural institutions and other key stakeholders. The Culture and Public Diplomacy intern will assist the Consul General and the Head of Culture and Public Diplomacy in their daily work with public diplomacy and cultural exchange.

• Your daily tasks include, but are not limited to:
  
• Facilitating and advising in regards to Danish arts and cultural collaborations across the US East Coast and special focus cities;
  
• Assisting the Consul General with various research tasks on societal developments in NYC;
  
• Coordination and execution of meetings and events;
  
• Casework in connection with visiting programs, ministerial visits and briefing documents;
  
• Creating content for Denmark In New York's social media platforms;
  
• Responding to a broad range of inquiries regarding Danish arts, culture and society;
• Updating various lists, records and reports.

As part of the internship, the intern will be given the opportunity to independently pursue at least one big project, which is both academically relevant and applicable to the culture and public diplomacy team’s overall work.

The Candidate
For this position, students from the Humanities and creative fields (i.e. film, literature, culture studies, music, visual arts, design, etc.) will be accorded priority consideration. Professional experience from the Danish cultural sector and/or international cultural exchange and communications is an advantage.

Additional competencies include:

• An understanding and interest in international political relations and the role of cultural and public diplomacy;
  
• Strong analytical skills and a creative flair;
  
• An understanding of Danish society and cultural value systems
  
• Good interpersonal skills, personal initiative, and a propensity for team collaboration;
• Strong writing skills along with fluency in English and Danish, both written and spoken.

Washington DC
1. Culture and Public Diplomacy (1 position)
The Position
You will get an important role in the Embassy press and communication efforts, with special focus on social media. You will, among many other things, create content for social media focusing on Denmark, Danish values and culture, Danish companies export successes in the US, and Danish-American trade. You will create content for the Embassy homepage, media monitoring, and update and further develop the Embassy Instagram-, Facebook-, Twitter- and LinkedIn profiles.

Your daily tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Create and update content for Social Media
• Conduct interviews, record and edit film and other content
• Participate in planning and execution of official visits, events and cultural events
• Maintain the Embassy homepage: usa.um.dk
• Take part in promoting Denmark’s cultural profile in the USA
• Contribute to information and promotion of cultural events
• Reply enquiries regarding Danish culture, Danish social conditions etc.

The Candidate

• You are enrolled at a higher educational institution focusing on communication, journalism, media, or marketing.
• Fluency in Danish and English (oral and written) at a high level is required.
• Video and web editing skills are an advantage.
• You are open, independent and creative.
