Process Control Platform designs control systems products and instrumentation for energy, process industry and marine segments. Our portfolio includes a complete state-of-the-art automation solution for traditional markets as well as challenging and ever evolving renewable markets such as solar, wind, and hydro. We are looking for two students to investigate if Artificial neural networks/Artificial intelligence/Machine Learning can replace or complement statistical forecasting models. Details: • Period: 2024 Q1 to Q2 (we have some flexibility) • Number of credits: 30 ECTS/Högskolepoäng (hp) - Master Thesis • Number of students: 1-2 • Partly on site in Västerås

Your responsibilities

• Scope: With help of Snowflake data warehouse, Python and internal resources build automated forecasting models for optimized purchasing. Historical transactions are one of the key input data elements together with limited history of front-end forecasting. We are interested in analyzing patterns and trends based on historical data to provide accurate estimates of futures outcomes

Your background

• We believe you are about to start your master thesis in Mathematics, Data Science, Information Technology, Technical Physics or similar
• You have a solid theoretical background where you have studied or applied Artificial Neural Networks/Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence to other types of problems
• We believe 2 students would be preferable as the scope might be too wide for a single applicant, but feel free to prove us wrong
• You have understanding or willingness to learn about forecast algorithms
• Good programming skills, Python preferably
• Experience with Python libraries such as SciPy, TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Pandas is a plus
• Basic knowledge of SQL and Microsoft Office
• Ability to quickly adopt new technologies
• Deliver readable and transparent code
• Good English skills in reading, listening, speaking & writing
