Background
Oxfam Denmark is part of the international confederation, Oxfam, that works to fight extreme inequality in the world.
As an intern at Oxfam Denmark, you will gain thorough insight into an organization that works for a better and more equal world by fighting poverty and injustice. We offer an opportunity to gain firsthand experience with the daily life in an international NGO through tasks and new challenges that can make a difference. Oxfam Denmark works with long-term development and humanitarian responses in Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. You will become part of our humanitarian team and work closely with colleagues in other units and departments. In addition, you will get a chance to be part of a dedicated and inspiring global community.
Internship assignments
- Analysis, mapping, and documentation of topics and processes related to food security, climate adaptation, gender, and conflict.
- Support project-related work within the humanitarian and inclusive peacebuilding thematic area
- Communication work, including newsletters, case stories, text for the website, and visual presentations
- Support planning and facilitating events, workshops, and processes – both online and physical
Competences required
- You are a student at a Danish university enrolled in a higher education programme in a relevant field, possibly on your Master's, or in special cases in the last year of your Bachelor's degree.
- You are interested in humanitarian work, peacebuilding, in particular food security, climate adaptation, gender, and conflict.
- You are systematic and capable of working independently and as part of a team to reach a common goal.
- You possess good writing skills and communicate complex issues in a simple and understandable way, both orally and in writing.
- You speak and write English fluently.
- You like being part of a team of good colleagues and engaging in social activities.
We offer
Working hours are 37 hours (full time) per week and the duration of the internship is 5 months, starting 18 August 2025. We are flexible in terms of adapting working hours to your studies and any student jobs so 30 to 37 hours can be agreed.
As we cannot offer our interns a salary, it is a requirement that you receive SU. However, we offer you a free lunch scheme (mainly vegetarian) and the opportunity to participate in morning yoga once a week.
Our current office is located at Vesterbrogade 2B, 1620 Copenhagen V. In September 2025, the Oxfam Denmark organisation will be moving to new offices at Lyngbyvej 100, 2100 Copenhagen Ø, close to Ryparken S-train station.
