CERN - The European Research Center of Particle Physics

Employment Type: Full-time

Are you a young mechanical designer eager to work in a multidisciplinary team?

Do you enjoy teamwork and want to apply your skills in 3D design?

If so, you might be the designer we're looking for!

In this central role, you'll contribute to the development of 3D models for devices to be installed in our particle accelerators. Your work will include producing detailed technical drawings and defining scan areas for reverse engineering, all within a collaborative and innovative environment.

Join us and help shape the future of science through precision engineering.

Your responsibilities
Join CERN during Long Shutdown 3 (LS3) for a unique opportunity to work directly on the LHC machine, deep inside the collider tunnels.

This is a central role, embedded within the core teams working on the LHC. You'll collaborate closely with experts from multiple disciplines to ensure the successful integration of new systems and upgrades.

In this position, you will:

  • Participate in 3D integration studies for accelerator equipment and associated services.
  • Acquire on-site laser scanning experience for reverse engineering.
  • Present your work in technical meetings across various teams.
  • Receive specialised CAD training (Catia - PLM) to support your design activities.

About us
At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.

Diversity has been an integral part of CERN's mission since its foundation and is an established value of the Organization. Employing a diverse workforce is central to our success.
