NORDEN’s trainee programme will offer you a structured and tailored education, sparring with experienced shipping professionals and provide the tools you need in your career to make a difference. The purpose of the two-year traineeship is to give you a strong foundation in your aspiring career and with the aim of a continued employment with NORDEN when finishing the programme.

The traineeship is expected to begins in August 2024 while the official education starts in September 2024.

What is in it for you
You will be exposed to various clients, projects and challenges. You will be part of a professional and supportive community while gaining a unique network of fellow trainees and colleagues who will support you in your development. In addition, you will be appointed a mentor and in close cooperation have weekly check-ins focusing on your well-being, progress and aspiration.

You will get the chance to explore different business areas and get insights into the world of global shipping and trade. Specifically, you will gain hands-on experience within:

• Freight Services & Trading (FST). This is also where you will find the Chartering and Operations department. FST is our asset-light freight service unit, servicing our customers in the dry cargo and product tanker sectors, operating a highly advanced fleet of vessels.
• Assets & Logistics (A&L). Despite our innovation in the market through our asset-light FST business unit, we know that it still pays to own and lease ships. Our Asset Management business unit handles the ownership and leasing of dry cargo vessels and product tankers.

Further, you will enroll in courses with other trainees through the Danish Shipping Academy:

• Maritime Law: Legal Aspects of Shipping.
• Maritime Economics: The Global Impact on Maritime and Business Economics​.
• Energy and Fuel: Adapting for a Sustainable Future​.
• Ship Design: Construction, Operations, and Future Vessels​.
• Logistics and Supply Chain​.
• Connecting Shipping Relations.

The above courses are spread out over 4 modules of a week each throughout the two years.

Your qualifications
Previous experience from the shipping industry is not required, as we are committed to providing you with a comprehensive and all-around onboarding within the field. However, the qualifications listed below are essential:

• You hold a high school diploma.
• You are eligible to work in Denmark.
• You are fluent in English.
• You are enthusiastic and curious.
• You are motivated by learning and development.

What we offer
As a trainee in NORDEN, we will support and enable your development and skills in a diverse and global shipping environment.

The traineeship is a paid full-time position. NORDEN also pays for the education and all expenses associated with the courses.

The process
The recruitment process consists of one interview. During the interview you will get insights into the personality and cognitive assessment, that we ask you to complete beforehand.

We aim to have signed all trainee agreements no later than by end-June 2024.
