1. Environment & Agribusiness (1 position)

The Position
The Trade Council in North America is looking for a highly motivated and qualified intern to assist Danish water and agribusiness companies in the U.S. and Canadian markets. The environment and agribusiness teams support and consult Danish companies and manufacturers wanting to establish and/or expand their North American activities. To do so, we assist with strategic analysis, stakeholder management, export promotion and sales activities.

You will be an integrated part of the teams’ daily work in promoting Danish exports to North America. You will be assisting our industry specialists within water and agribusiness, and gain valuable knowledge in the work of Danish exports within the market for sustainable solutions in water and agribusiness from day one. As an intern you will be included as an important contributor on relevant projects, and will achieve a deep understanding of the North American industry conditions.

Your daily tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting market analysis
  • Data collection
  • Connection with Danish and American companies and stakeholders
  • Supporting business development projects
  • Administrative tasks, which also include helping out with our daily routines

2. Energy Advisory (1 position)

The Position
Through the internship located at the Consulate General in Chicago, you will be an integrated part of the Energy Teams’ daily work and support the collaboration between U.S. and Canadian market activities. You will be linked to one of our industry specialists, and gain valuable knowledge in the work of Danish exports within the energy sector from day one. As an intern, you will be included as an important contributor on relevant projects, and will achieve a deep understanding of the market and industry conditions on the North American market.

Your daily tasks include, but are not limited to,

  • Supporting market analysis
  • Data collection
  • Connection with Danish and American stakeholder within the public and private sector
  • Supporting public affairs activities
  • Supporting business development projects
  • Supporting the management team in day to day activities
  • Administrative tasks, which also include helping out with our daily routines
  • The intern will also be expected to support the Market Entry Advisory (MEA) team when needed and must therefore be able to demonstrate flexibility regarding different tasks, workload and sudden changes.

You will be hired as a part of the Trade Department at the Danish Consulate General in Chicago, and be included in the Consulate General’s staff team consisting of 15 employees.

The Candidate

  • You are enrolled at a higher educational institution focusing on business, economics, or the like.
  • Fluency in English (oral and written) is required. Comfortable office package (PowerPoint, Excel & Word) skills are expected.
  • The candidate should possess an independent drive along with a positive attitude when engaging in new tasks.
  • The ideal candidate should have a high level of personal integrity and creativity while possessing curiosity and drive.
  • Being open, credible and observant are important personal characteristics.
  • As the work pace will fluctuate and increase, the candidate should be able to maintain a clear perspective and focus in stressful situations.

Interns are responsible for own expenses, i.e. plane tickets and renting of rooms or apartments. The Consulate General of Denmark in Chicago provides 4.000 DKK/month towards documented rental costs.

1. Energy and Environment (1 position)

The Position
As an intern at the Consulate General in Houston, you will be part of a small but dynamic and result-oriented team at the newly established Consulate General. You will become an integral part of the team of advisers and administrators and get a chance to work actively on export and trade promotions within Energy & Environment.
With a population of 28 million, Texas is the second largest economy in the US and the world’s 10th largest economy. Texas’ size and dynamic growth provides a solid potential for our overall work in helping Danish companies succeed in the US market. We provide business development services for Danish companies, including market insights, market execution and help with establishing a permanent presence on the US market. We succeed through specialization and a strong drive to make things happen.

Your daily tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Market research, analysis and monitoring incl. mapping of stakeholders, competitors, potential partners, etc.
  • Lead generation and outreach to Danish and American customers by phone and email
  • Assisting with business development and execution of market strategies for Danish companies
  • Planning and coordinating meeting programs and events in both Denmark and USA
  • Support in GPA (Global Public Affair) work with local authorities and other relevant stakeholders
  • Assisting in administrative work and daily routines

2. Health & Life Science (1 position)

The Position
Do you want to help create jobs and growth in Denmark by assisting Danish life science companies in making a difference in addressing global health care challenges in the world’s largest health care market? As an intern at the Consulate General in Houston, you will be part of a small but dynamic and result-oriented team focused on health and life science and access to Texas Medical Center (TMC), the world’s largest medical city comprising more than 60+ medical institutions in Houston, Texas. You will become an integral part of the team of advisors and get a chance to work actively on export and trade promotions within Health & Life Science.

Texas’ size and dynamic growth provides a solid potential for our overall work in helping Danish companies succeed in the US market. Denmark is home to one of most innovative and competitive life science hubs in the world. The United States is one of the world’s largest life science and health care markets and is constantly looking for new and improved ways of handling healthcare challenges. The Trade Council in North America’s Life Science team strengthens Danish relations to the U.S. healthcare sector and assist Danish life science companies expand their activities in the United States. You will play a key role in supporting the life science team communicate with both our Danish and Texas stakeholders.

Your Daily tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the team’s marketing and communications related efforts, including website, social media and marketing materials
  • Develop and produce visual material such as infographics, videos, program fliers, company eBook
  • Develop and update content for the Consulate’s Life Science SoMe platforms and website
  • Market research, analysis and monitoring incl. mapping of stakeholders, competitors, potential partners, etc.

1. Design & Digital Design + Greenbuild & Urban Development (1 position)

The Position
Denmark In New York’s Design & Digital Design + Greenbuild & Urban Development is looking for an intern. The intern will work with Danish companies specialized within the creative industries (design, gaming, animation, XR, film). In addition, the intern will support Danish companies working within greenbuild and urban development.
We are looking for an intern supporting our advisors in helping helping Danish companies gain an understanding of the US market. Furthermore, the intern will assist in facilitating strategic and hands-on business development.

The intern will be part of a dynamic results-oriented team consisting of ten commercial advisers and three commercial interns.

Your daily tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing market and competitor analysis for Danish companies to research their potential for the given product category
  • Researching and reach out to potential US stakeholders
  • Assisting in business development and growth market strategies
  • Assisting in the organization and execution of events
  • Developing and executing high-quality presentations
  • Conducting research on needed product certifications, approvals, labelling etc.
  • Presenting market data and other relevant information to Danish companies
  • Coordinating export promotion and trips to Denmark for American interest groups
  • Researching potential new partnerships and joint venture development among North American cities and Danish companies
  • Coordinating workshops and other events concerning collaboration between North American cities and Danish companies

The Candidate
For this position, existing knowledge of design, gaming, animation, XR and/or greenbuild and urban development is expected. Professional experience in one of these areas is a plus.

2. Tech & Digital Sales advisor (1 position)

The Position
Denmark In New York’s Tech & Digital sales intern will work with Danish companies specialized in tech, IT, e-commerce (B2B & B2C) and digital platforms. The intern will help Danish companies gain an understanding of the US markets and assist in facilitating strategic and hands-on business development services.

The Tech & Digital Sales intern will be part of a dynamic results-oriented team consisting of ten commercial advisers and three commercial interns. You will be assisting the tech advisor and digital sales advisor.

Your daily tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing market and competitor analysis for Danish companies to research their potential for a given product category
  • Researching potential partnerships and joint venture developments
  • Assisting in business development and growth market strategies
  • Assisting in the organization and execution of events
  • Developing and executing high-quality presentations
  • Research and creation with US digital platforms

The Candidate
For this position, previous knowledge in tech or ecommerce and digital platforms is expected.

Additional competencies include:

  • Knowledge of Danish the tech industry
  • Understanding of ecommerce (B2C and B2B)
  • Familiarity with SaaS, cloud, and IoT
  • Knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint as well as analytics

3. SDG & UN Procurement (1 position)The Position
Denmark In New York’s SDG & UN Procurement intern will work with some of the largest Danish companies and institutional investors to explore market opportunities and global public affairs and positioning concerning all of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Furthermore, the intern will work with a variety of companies and UN agencies in relation to United Nations procurement.

As the SDG & UN Procurement intern, you will be part of a dynamic results-oriented team consisting of nine Commercial Advisors and three Commercial Interns. You will be assisting our two SDG & UN procurement Advisors. Your daily tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • Scoping and executing high-level side events and workshops at United Nations Headquarters
  • Conducting business development and growth market strategies
  • Assisting in lead generation and outreach to United Nations agencies and Danish companies
  • Assisting in conducting procurement seminars and webinars in collaboration with our Nordic colleagues and UN agencies
  • Assisting with the mapping of key stakeholders, the creation of demanding meeting programs and providing logistical support to high-level participants
  • Providing market and competitor analysis for Danish companies to research their potential for the given product category

The Candidate
For this position, familiarity with the United Nations and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is a plus.

Additional competencies include:

  • A commercial and/or economic background and a thorough understanding of the Danish business environment
  • An understanding and interest for international political relations and the role of economic diplomacy
  • Strong analytical skills

1. Green Buildings Advisory, District Energy Advisory and Arctic Advisory (1 position)

The Position
We are looking for a highly motivated and qualified intern to assist the Green Buildings Advisory, the District Energy Advisory and the Arctic Advisory team in Toronto. You will be an integrated part of the team’s daily work, and will be an important contributor on relevant projects. You will get a wealth of experience in the development of business strategies for Danish companies within the above sectors who are interested in expanding their business activities to Canada and you will thereby achieve a deep understanding of the North American / Canadian / Canadian Arctic industry conditions.

Your daily tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Participate in and support the daily work of the office
  • Support general and sector-specific internal and external communications (e.g. Facebook & LinkedIn posts)
  • Support Green Buildings Advisory, District Energy Advisory and Arctic Advisory by carrying out the following activities (varies depending on sector and project):
  • Desk and field research

As an intern, you will primarily be working with trade relations and export promotion within Waste & Biogas, District Energy, and Offshore Wind but also within the overall framework for Danish-American trade. The Position
As an intern you will primarily be working with export promotion within Health, Defense industry and Energy & Environment, but also within the overall framework for Danish-American trade. This includes the network group American-Danish Business Council, who’s purpose is to promote the cooperation between and the commercial opportunities for the networks Danish and American members. The Embassy is responsible for helping Danish companies across all of The United States, and for coordinating the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs commercial effort in the country.

The Position
The Embassy in Washington DC is looking for an intern to support the work within Food & Agriculture. You will be an integrated part of the team, and will gain insight into the American Food & Agriculture sector, in a close and educational corporation with the specialized team.

Your daily tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparation of reports and analysis for ministries, organizations and companies within Food & Agriculture on relevant political and commercial subjects within the American Food & Agriculture sector
  • Attendance of hearings in the Congress, seminars in think-tanks and meetings in various national and international organizations related to the American agricultural and food industry, with the purpose of reporting about trade- and agricultural politics to relevant Danish authorities and organizations
  • Analyse specific market conditions and market barriers for Danish food companies
