Chicago (1 position)
1. Communication and Marketing. Application Number: COM-1.
The Position
You will work to promote The Trade Council in North America’s energy and environment activities and attract Danish companies to explore their export potential across the Atlantic. You will play an important role in the Trade Council marketing and communications team, consisting of a team leader located in Washington D.C. and two advisors and two interns located in Chicago and Houston.

During the internship you will get a chance to work with various disciplines within marketing and communications and contribute to bridging the gap between Denmark and North America one story at a time.

The marketing and communications team is an integrated part of the Energy & Environment team with approximately 40 employees spread across the Danish missions in North America. Sustainability is at the top of the agenda for transatlantic collaborations, and so you will become a part of a dedicated and busy team with a strong purpose.

The Consulate General in Chicago offers the opportunity to become part of a social office with 15 great colleagues. Each semester we welcome a team of three new interns and present an exciting and safe space to grow both personally and professionally.

Your daily tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the daily social media efforts on LinkedIn
  • Write web articles and case stories
  • Develop and update marketing materials
  • Video production and editing
  • Write and set up newsletters for the Danish community in Chicago
  • Administrative tasks, which also include helping out with our daily routines at the office.

The Candidate

  • You are enrolled at a higher educational institution focusing on communication, journalism, media, or marketing
  • You possess an independent drive and are highly motivated to contribute and learn
  • Fluency in Danish and English (oral and written) at a high level is required
  • Our ideal candidate has a flair for visual and graphical storytelling
  • Experience with Photoshop, InDesign and Premiere Pro is advantageous but not a prerequisite

Houston (2 positions)
1. Communication and Marketing. Application Number: COM-2.
The Position
As the Marketing and Communications (MarCom) intern in Houston, you will play an essential role in the Consulate General's marketing and communications activities within the fields of, energy, water and environment, and culture.

You will become an integral part of a small MarCom team with three advisors and two interns based out of Houston, Chicago, and Washington DC, which cover strategic communication and marketing for The Trade Council in North America’s Energy and Environment Team. The MarCom advisor in Houston will be your day-to-day colleague and offer feedback throughout your internship.

Additionally, you will work closely with the approximately 40 advisors of The Trade Council’s Energy and Environment Team to display the strongholds of Danish solutions locally and bring the success stories back to Denmark. Right now, sustainability is at the top of the agenda for transatlantic collaborations, and so you will become a part of a dedicated and busy team with a strong purpose.

Through the internship, you will get a chance to work with various disciplines within the fields of marketing and communications and contribute to bridging the gap between Denmark and North America one story at a time.

The Consulate General in Houston furthermore offers an opportunity to become a part of a relatively new office with 15 great colleagues who are ready to welcome three new interns and present an interesting and safe space to grow both personally and professionally.

Your daily tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Support and develop the daily social media efforts on Facebook and LinkedIn.
  • Maintain the Consulate General’s website
  • Develop and produce visual content such as infographics, videos, and various marketing material
  • Research and write web articles and case stories
  • Contribute to coordinating and promoting cultural events and delegation visits
  • In addition to the tasks above, you are expected to independently pursue at least one project, which is both academically relevant and applicable to the team’s overall strategy.

The Candidate

  • You are enrolled at a higher education institution focusing on journalism, communications, media, or marketing, and relevant professional experience is expected
  • You have an excellent command of Danish and English
  • You have a flair for visual storytelling, thus experience with Photoshop, InDesign, and PremierePro is an advantage but not a prerequisite
  • You are very attentive to detail and enjoy taking on new responsibilities and challenges
  • You possess an independent drive along with a positive attitude when engaging in new tasks
  • You are highly motivated, proactive, and have a genuine interest in producing visual and written content to assist the Danish efforts in North America.

2. Health & Life Science. Application Number: TC-4.

The Position
Do you want to help create jobs and growth in Denmark by assisting Danish life science companies in making a difference in addressing global health care challenges in the world’s largest health care market? As an intern at the Consulate General in Houston, you will be part of a small but dynamic and result-oriented team focused on health and life science and access to Texas Medical Center (TMC), the world’s largest medical city comprising more than 60+ medical institutions in Houston, Texas. You will become an integral part of the team of advisors and get a chance to work actively on export and trade promotions within Health & Life Science.

With a population of 28 million, Texas is the second largest economy in the US and the world’s 10th largest economy. Texas’ size and dynamic growth provides a solid potential for our overall work in helping Danish companies succeed in the US market. Denmark is home to one of most innovative and competitive life science hubs in the world. The United States is one of the world’s largest life science and health care markets and is constantly looking for new and improved ways of handling healthcare challenges. The Trade Council in North America’s Life Science team strengthens Danish relations to the U.S. healthcare sector and assist Danish life science companies expand their activities in the United States. You will play a key role in supporting the life science team communicate with both our Danish and Texas stakeholders.

Your Daily tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the team’s marketing and communications related efforts, including website, social media and marketing materials
  • Develop and produce visual material such as infographics, videos, program fliers, company eBook
  • Develop and update content for the Consulate’s Life Science SoMe platforms and website
  • Market research, analysis and monitoring incl. mapping of stakeholders, competitors, potential partners, etc.
  • Lead generation and outreach to Danish and American customers by phone and email
  • Assisting with business development and execution of market strategies for Danish companies
  • Planning and coordinating meeting programs and events in both Denmark and Texas
  • Support in GPA (Global Public Affair) work with local authorities and other relevant stakeholders

The Candidate

  • You are enrolled at a higher educational institution focusing on business, economics, or the like
  • Fluency in English (oral and written) is required- Our ideal candidate has flair for visual storytelling and preferably experience with Photoshop, PremierePro and Indesign
  • You are very attentive to detail and enjoys taking on new responsibilities and challenges
  • You possess an independent drive along with a positive attitude when engaging in new tasks
  • You are highly motivated, proactive and have a genuine interest in understanding and solving the business-related challenges that Danish companies face when entering/expanding in the US market

New York (1 position)
1. Press and Communications. Application Number: COM-3.

The Position
As a Press and Communications Intern in New York, you will play an important role in the Consulate’s daily communication activities, long-term strategic communication planning, and critical public diplomacy efforts. The Consulate communicates to the US public on important policy topics with relevance to Denmark, such as green growth, sustainable development, life sciences, culture and public diplomacy. You will be a part of the Trade Council. In addition, you will be working across the Consulate with other teams and colleagues, such as, Invest in Denmark, Culture, and Public Diplomacy.

The Editorial Lead will be your day-to-day colleague and offer feedback throughout your internship. You will get a chance to work with various disciplines within the fields of marketing and communications and, in such, contribute to bridging the gap between Denmark and North America in various ways. The Consulate General in New York offers an opportunity to learn in a vibrant and supportive office with about 45 engaged colleagues.

Your daily tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Daily coordination of Denmark In New York’s social media channels which are Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook
  • Developing original content for our social media platforms
  • Production of videos, pictures, and graphics for social media using FinalCut, Canva and Photoshop
  • Writing draft speeches, speaking points, and op-eds
  • Monitoring global and local news and writing up press briefings
  • Creating communications campaigns for high-level events
  • Press and media outreach to Danish and US journalists
  • Assisting with project management at high-level events such as the UN General Assembly and meetings with key local stakeholders such as the city government

The Candidate
For this position, students from communications and journalism programs will be given priority consideration. Professional experience in media and journalism is a plus. Excellent writing skills are required.

Additional competencies include:

  • Experience in production of social media content
  • Ability to shoot and edit video and work on multimedia projects is an advantage
  • Ability to work with CMS
  • Demonstrates professional competence and understanding of subject matters including Denmark’s role in advancing the sustainability agenda, digitalization, and Danish arts and culture
  • Knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and analytics programs
  • You are open, independent, and bring new creative ideas to the table

Washington DC (1 position)
1. Press, Culture and Public Diplomacy. Application Number: PD-2.
The Position
You will get an important role in the Embassy press and communication efforts, with special focus on social media. You will, among many other things, create content for social media focusing on Denmark, Danish values and culture, Danish companies export successes in the US, and Danish-American trade. You will create content for the Embassy's website, media monitoring, and update and further develop the Embassy's Instagram-, Facebook-, Twitter- and LinkedIn channels.

Your daily tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Create and update content for the Embassy's social media platforms
  • Produce pictures, graphics and videos (interviewing, recording and editing)
  • Participate in planning and execution of official visits, events and cultural events
  • Maintain the Embassy's website: usa.um.dk
  • Take part in promoting Denmark’s profile in the USA
  • Contribute to information and promotion of cultural events
  • Reply enquiries regarding Denmark, Danish culture, Danish values etc.

The Candidate

  • You are enrolled at a higher educational institution focusing on communication, journalism, media, or marketing
  • Fluency in Danish and English (oral and written) at a high level is required
  • Video and web editing skills are an advantage
  • You are open, independent and creative
