Shipping Trainee, Bremen

Are you ready to get a solid shipping foundation, involving both hands-on work and innovative ideas? And do you see yourself combining a practical business introduction with a theoretical foundation? Then this 3-year traineeship with NORDEN might be for you.

School will begin in August 2024, and the start date would therefore be this or before.

What is in it for you
You will enroll in a structured every day where you will combine 2 days of school with 3 days of work in our Bremen office. In practice, this means that we will register you at the public school for work, where you will obtain a basic education with subjects such as math, politics, bookkeeping, geography and shipping.

The traineeship will take 3 years to finalize and will end in exams whereafter you will get the state approved job degree of Shipping Merchant (Schifffahrtskauffrau/mann).

Your traineeship will primarily be focused in our two commercial departments, Operations and Chartering. First, you will be onboarded in the Operational department and afterwards the Chartering department.

You will also get the opportunity to spend some weeks in NORDEN’s headquarters in Copenhagen, getting more insight into the support functions you interact with the most in your everyday work, such as Accounting, Sanctions and Credit Risk.

Your qualifications
We are looking for a colleague with an eagerness to learn and your background is therefore not that important. We are looking more for the right fit in terms of personality. However, we expect you to hold the below:

• You have some practical work experience within any field, everything from service to office.
• You are aspiring, enthusiastic, and curious.
• You are comfortable in English both verbally and in writing, as our company language is English.
• You already live in Germany, preferably the Bremen area.

The traineeship is a full-time position.

The process
The recruitment process consists of one interview, supplemented by a personality and cognitive assessment, that you will have to complete before the interview.

The traineeship will take effect from 1st of August 2024, but we are open to an earlier start date.
