Internship – Product development of Sloped Roof Windows, VELUX Innovation Center

We are offering an internship opportunity for candidates with backgrounds in mechanical engineering or similar. As an intern, you will work closely with our experienced professionals on various work packages related to sustainable roof-window design and learn from industry experts.

This role provides valuable learning experience in product development and innovation.

The internship will be based primarily at our Østbirk location. With the possibility of occasional remote work.

Responsibilities
To be in an internship at VELUX will be both analytical and practical oriented and you will quickly get insight into the context of development and the daily tasks. There will be different tasks in the position but mainly with respect to your interests, competencies and the current project portfolio.

You will become an essential part of a great team where collaboration is a central part of everyday life. You will be involved in projects and be responsible for independent tasks, having the courage to work proactively with new ideas and solutions in relation to our project scope.

You are not afraid of making mistakes, but actively use them to learn, whereas you can practice a methodical, structured work approach. Disciplined work according to agreements, documentation standards and robust design are tasks that you handle comfortably.

Your primary tasks will be to:

• Participate in activities and solve tasks in relation to project descriptions.
• Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with focus on the developer connection to example supply and market.
• Actively contributes to development of new ideas and solutions focused on sustainable products and design.
• Translate requirements into innovative solutions through 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks/Creo), FEM simulation (ANSYS/SolidWorks), prototype manufacturing and testing.
• Conduct simulations and tests to evaluate product and component performance.
• Deliveries and deadlines according to the project plan.
• Contribute to risk assessment and critical path.
• Planning of project process with respect to overall deadlines in a development process (Stage Gate)
• Use reviews with colleagues to support, maintain and verify design and mechanical construction.
• Share personal contributions with the project group and those in leadership roles.

You are currently enrolled in a related Engineering Bachelor’s or Master’s study in a relevant field.

We imagine that you:

• Have knowledge and some experience with 3D CAD modelling.
• Have knowledge within the finite element's method.
• Are fluent in written and spoken English since it is the language of the company, but Danish is advantageous.
• Have a product development and project work interest.

The internship is paid and will run in the fall semester of 2024 for 5-6 months but can be extended upon agreement with possibility of future career opportunities within the organization.
