At the Technical Faculty of IT and Design, Department of Electronic Systems, a part-time position (70%) as Research Assistant in channel sounding platform development and 6G channel measurement Radio Propagation is open for appointment from January 1st, 2025 , or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is available for 12 months. In electronic engineering, Aalborg University is known worldwide for its high academic quality and societal impact. The Department of Electronic Systems employs more than 200 people, of which about 90 are PhD students, and about 40 % of all employees are internationals. In total, it has more than 600 students in its BSc and MSc programs, which are based on AAU's problem-based learning model. As wireless communication continues to evolve, the field is expanding the frequency spectrum to sub-THz, utilizing extremely large antenna arrays, implementing reconfigurable intelligent surfaces(RISs) to dynamically shape radio channel environments, and integrating sensing and communication(ISAC) technologies. These advancements are anticipated to play a significant role in the future of wireless systems. Understanding the radio channel, a fundamental element of wireless systems, is essential for developing new technologies, especially in emerging deployment scenarios.
The research assistant will contribute to advancing radio channel measurement and modeling through one or more of the following research areas:
- Developing an automated platform for channel sounding.
- Conducting channel sounding measurements for future use cases, such as industrial scenarios, ISAC applications, RIS, and waveform design for signal transmission.
- Channel estimation and modeling.

Qualification requirements:
The required level of qualifications is at master level.

Appointment to Research Assistant may be for a period of up to three years. Reappointment may be made, but a Research Assistant can only be appointed to Research Assistant for a period of maximum three years. Løn og ansættelsesvilkår
Employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities(the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Finance's current Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Employment and salary are in accordance with the collective agreement for state-employed academics.
