DTU Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Biomolecular Assembly and Condensation - DTU Bioengineering

We are looking for a new tenure track assistant professor in Biomolecular Assembly and Condensation. You will perform research at the forefront of protein assembly, as well as teach biophysics at all levels and collaborate with colleagues at DTU and elsewhere, in academia and industry.
The Protein Biophysics group in the section for Protein Chemistry and Enzyme Technology (PCET) at DTU Bioengineering is looking for a talented researcher for a position as Assistant Professor in Biomolecular Assembly and Condensation. You will become part of the faculty at DTU and develop experimental methods and approaches to characterize the mechanisms, driving forces and biological roles in health, disease and biotechnology of biomolecular assembly into ordered and disordered aggregates as well as liquid condensates. In this position you will develop and strengthen the department’s position in Protein Biophysics and collaborate with other groups in the PCET section and DTU Bioengineering more general to contribute to the development of a holistic view of proteins including the interplay between assembly state and function of proteins.
Responsibilities and qualifications
The main focus of the position is to contribute to and develop the department’s competences within the biophysics of protein assembly, aggregation and condensation.
Your primary tasks and responsibilities will include the following:
- Study and exploit the role of biomolecular assembly and condensation in health and biotechnology applications
- Implementation and application of novel experimental approaches for the experimental study of biomolecular assembly
- Engagement in close collaboration with academic and industrial partners.
- Dedication to scientific excellence, including publication in high impact venues.
- Grant writing and attraction of funding related to your field of research.
- Contribution to the development of experimental infrastructure of the department.
- Responsibility for teaching activities and courses in the department.
- Project management and supervision of project, BSc, MSc and PhD students.
You should have the following qualifications:
- Experience with the recombinant production and purification of proteins
- A strong background in the biophysical characterisation of protein aggregation and condensation
- Experience in the development of novel experimental biophysical methods
- Strong background in spectroscopy, microscopy and scattering methods
- Experience with data analysis, data management and programming
- Substantial track record of peer-reviewed publications in the above-mentioned subject areas.
- Strong track record in the securement of personal and project grants.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Track record of teaching at the university level including teaching assistant roles and project supervision.
You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.
As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
Starting date is the 1.3.2025 or as soon as possible afterwards. The position is a full time position.
