At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Aalborg University, one or more positions as Associate Professor in Mathematics, Statistics or Mathematical Economics are open for appointment from 1 August 2025 or soon hereafter. The position(s) is(are) time unlimited.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences conducts research in a wide range of mathematical disciplines and has three study programs: Mathematics(including a specialization in statistics at the master level), mathematical economics, and mathematics-technology.
The department offers an international and informal working environment. The department is proud of its long tradition of good social relations and collaboration among colleagues. Employees at the department have good opportunities to shape the direction of their professional activities.
Research will be within one(or more) of the areas:
- Mathematics(preferably within the current research areas of the department)
- Statistics(preferably within the current research areas of the department)
- Mathematical economics(preferably mathematical finance and econometrics).
Teaching will primarily be in mathematics and/or statistics, but also in other study programs at the University.

Qualification requirements:
The level of qualification for Associate Professors shall correspond to the level which can be achieved on the basis of the appointment as Assistant Professor but may be achievable in other ways. The appointment presupposes that the applicant can demonstrate original scientific production at an international level as well as documented teaching qualifications. Appointment to the position requires that both research and teaching qualifications are at the requested level. The two qualifications will be given equal and principal priority in the overall assessment.
The application must contain the following:
- A motivated text wherein the reasons for applying, qualifications in relation to the position, and intentions and visions for the position are stated.
- A current curriculum vitae.
- Copies of relevant diplomas(Master of Science and PhD– both in English).
- Scientific qualifications. A complete list of publications must be attached with an indication of the works the applicant wishes to be considered. You may attach up to 10 publications.
- Teaching qualifications described in the teaching portfolio. If this is not enclosed the applicant must include an explanation for its absence.
- Applicants are encouraged to document personal awards and track record of external funding.
- Dissemination qualifications, including participation on committees or boards, participation in organisations and the like.
- Additional qualifications in relation to the position.
- A list of people whom we could contact and ask for references.
- Personal data.

Assessment
The assessment of applicants for the position will be carried out by an assessment committee.
Shortlisting will be applied. This means that the head of the department, with the assistance of the hiring committee, will select candidates for assessment. Candidates selected for assessment will then be informed about the composition of the assessment committee. All candidates will be notified whether they have been shortlisted for assessment or not.
Applicants who are selected for assessment will have the opportunity to comment on their assessment.
When the hiring process is completed, a final rejection will be sent to the applicants who are not considered for the position.

Løn og ansættelsesvilkår
The employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities(the Appointment Order) and the Ministerial Order on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the collective agreement between the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations and the state(AC collective agreement)(only in Danish) and circular concerning protocol on certain terms of employment of academic staff at universities(only in Danish).
