Interviews, data management, and qualitative methods – Student Assistant in Agroecology

Would you like to contribute to the Systems Group in the Department of Agroecology at Aarhus University?

We are looking for a student assistant to support exciting tasks related to developing the foundation for the new Novo Nordisk project: SmartField, which aims to support the adoption and implementation of low-emission management systems and technologies in agriculture.

Your tasks will include

  • Conducting interviews with farmers, policymakers, and other stakeholders to gather insights into the adoption of low-emission technologies and sustainable agricultural practices.
  • Collecting and organizing data to support the development of tools like SmartFarm, focusing on field- and farm-scale quantification of greenhouse gas emissions such as N2O and CH4, and soil carbon stocks and flows.
  • Supporting the review of existing Tier 3 Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) systems developed globally, including methodologies for greenhouse gas accounting and implementation tools, to guide the design of the SmartField platform.
  • Assisting in the creation of training materials for farmers, advisors, and policymakers to ensure effective engagement and feedback for the development of MRV systems.

About the position
The position is for 12 months, with a weekly workload of 10–15 hours, and offers flexibility during exam periods and holidays. The primary workplace is located at AU Viborg, Blichers Allé 20, 8830 Tjele, but occasional workspace in Aarhus may be arranged.
You are an active student and provide documentation of enrollment at a higher education institution or a medium-length higher education program at a university college or a similar institution.

We are looking for a student who is:

  • Systematic and detail-oriented, with experience in qualitative methods and data management.
  • Comfortable conducting interviews and working with a variety of stakeholders, including farmers, government agencies, and researchers.
  • Enthusiastic about contributing to research on sustainable agriculture and climate change mitigation.

Preferred competencies

  • Availability to collaborate over several semesters is favored.
  • Interest in topics related to agroecology, sustainability, or climate change mitigation.

Formalities and salary range
Salary and terms as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Union of Commercial and Clerical Employees in Denmark/State (HK/Stat) for clerical staff, laboratory technicians and IT employees and the joint collective agreement concluded between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Organisations of Public Employees - Denmark - Danish State Sector (the OAO-S joint collective agreement).
