At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, AAU Energy, a position as Postdoc in power electronics is open for appointment from March 1, 2025, or soon hereafter. The position is available for a period of 39 months and is a full time position.

AAU Energy has campuses in both Aalborg and Esbjerg, this position is located in Aalborg.
The mission is to be world leading in both research and research-based education of the energy engineers of the future. AAU Energy has approx. 300 employees of many nationalities, of which 25 are administrative staff. In addition, AAU Energy constantly has approx. 50-70 guest researchers from around the world.
Research and teaching are in the absolute world elite in the field of energy, and we have extensive and leading workshop and laboratory facilities, where research and innovation are carried out in direct collaboration with industry to a great extent.
The position is offered in relation to the research program Reliability of Power Electronic Components(REPEC) and the Postdoc will be positioned to the section for Applied Power Electronic Systems.
Research areas will be within the concept design of integrated cooling solutions– single phase and multi-phase– for Wide-Bandgap(WBG) power modules based on 3D-printed microchannels and two-phase heat transfer. The tasks include understanding the critical heat fluxes, boundary conditions, test requirements and different design trade-offs. Having an advanced knowledge in thermal numerical Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD) modeling based on advanced softwares e.g. ANSYS and COMSOL plus to a basic knowledge of power modules packaging are mandatory.
The ideal candidate has pursued their PhD in the power electronics or thermal engineering areas with clear reference to CFD modeling. English fluency is mandatory. Familiarity with testing of cooling solutions for power electronics is a nice to have, although not mandatory. Also, knowledge about manufacturability and packaging of WBG power modules is a value added. A good publication record will be considered for the final assessment.
Qualification requirements
Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.

Assessment
The assessment of candidates for the position will be carried out by qualified experts.
Shortlisting will be applied. This means that after the application deadline, the head of the department, with the assistance of the hiring committee, will select the applicants to be assessed. All applicants will be informed whether they have been shortlisted for assessment or not.
When the hiring process is completed, a final rejection will be sent to the applicants who are not considered for the position.
