Educational Counsellor
Niels Brock
We are looking for two dedicated educational counsellors to join our international department. The responsibilities of the educational counsellor include supporting the emotional and professional growth of students, developing and monitoring counselling support programs and providing academic guidance.
To be a successful educational counsellor, you should treat all students with patience and compassion for the challenges they are facing. Ultimately, a top-notch educational counsellor has a strong level of social perceptiveness, is gently persuasive, highly motivational and can make students feel safe and secure.
Qualifications
- Academic degree in any field, preferably in a relevant discipline in the behavioural sciences such as Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, Educational Support or other Social Sciences.
- Previous experience in counselling or international student support is desirable but not mandatory.
- Effective interpersonal skills and the capability to build connections with students and faculty.
- Experience in project management (desirable) and an interest in organising and facilitating developmental workshops and student-oriented events.
- Passion for international education and a genuine interest in motivating and helping students achieve their academic and career aspirations while maintaining their overall wellbeing.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently while adhering to strict deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (Danish is not a requirement).
- Good mass and digital media skills.
Educational counsellor Responsibilities:
- Work effectively with other counsellors to develop and monitor counselling programs aimed at enhancing student integration and well-being.
- Listening to students' academic, emotional, social, and behavioural concerns in an open and non-judgemental way.
- Working directly with students to develop solutions and set achievable goals.
- Meeting with students in cases of high absence or facing termination of studies to discuss the best way forward. This sometimes may be supporting the student in leaving the institution.
- Offering referrals to and guidance in engaging social care resources in Denmark e.g., mental health, substance abuse, sexual health.
Employment
Employment will be secured as per collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the AC trade union.
Terms of employment:
The position is full-time, and you will start on April 1st, 2025, or as soon as possible. Salary and employment will be in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.
