At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, AAU Energy, a position as Research Assistant in the field of planar magnetic components is open for appointment 1 April 2025 or soon hereafter. The position is fixed until 14 March 2028.

AAU Energy has a very international environment and covers all areas of clean and sustainable energy systems of the future within electrical, thermal and mechatronic energy technology. AAU Energy has campuses in both Aalborg and Esbjerg, this position is in Aalborg.

The mission is to be world leading in both research and research-based education of the energy engineers of the future. AAU Energy has approx. 300 employees of many nationalities, of which 25 are administrative staff. In addition, AAU Energy constantly has approx. 50-70 guest researchers from around the world.

Research and teaching are in the absolute world elite in the field of energy, and we have extensive and leading workshop and laboratory facilities, where research and innovation are carried out in direct collaboration with industry to a great extent.

The position is offered in relation to the research program Power Electronics Packaging Materials and Emerging Applications and the research assistant will be positioned to the section B for Power Electronics
System Integration and Materials.

Research areas will be within magnetic components at AAU Energy.

Special requirements
The desired candidates should have a master degree in power electronics and mechatronic engineering. In addition, the candidate is expected to have the following skills:

• Have solid experience in SolidWorks and Altium.
• Have experience in designing thermal management or cooling systems for power electronics.
• Have a fundamental understanding to passive components, including magnetic components and capacitors.
• Being keen to solve problems and challenges. Including analyzing, simulating, designing and testing a hardware problem– the high-power magnetic components. The candidate should have experience in solving practical problems.
• It is suggested that the candidate should equip knowledge on FEM, at least be open to learn to use FEM software.

Qualification requirements
The required level of qualifications is at master level.

Appointment to Research Assistant may be for a period of up to three years. Reappointment may be made, but a Research Assistant can only be appointed to Research Assistant for a period of maximum three years. Assessment

Løn og ansættelsesvilkår
