The Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Mathematical Sciences, offers a Postdoc position within Discrete Mathematics starting 01.08.2025 or soon thereafter. The position will be based at Aalborg University’s campus in Aalborg and will have a duration of 2 years.

Research areas will be within algebraic coding theory. While the primary focus is on fundamental research in algebraic coding theory, practical applications in the maritime industry—including secure and efficient
data transmission, fault-tolerant communication, and navigational data integrity will also be explored.
The ideal candidate has completed a PhD in mathematics, or related fields, with a clear focus on algebraic
coding theory and its applications. Fluency in English is required. Familiarity with computer algebra systems as SageMath or MAGMA is a plus. The candidate should have a strong background in mathematics, particularly in coding theory, error correction, and their real-world applications. Knowledge of cryptography is appreciated but not mandatory.
Limited teaching within the area can be expected, but also in other study programs at the University.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences conducts research in a wide range of mathematical disciplines and has three study programmes: mathematics(including a specialization in statistics at the master level),
mathematical economics, and mathematics-technology.

Qualification requirements
Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.

Assessment
