A unique aspect is the combination of quantitative methodology and behavioral research approaches. The methods from Operations Research, Management Science, Data Science, and Analytics are very suitable for studying decision problems and making sound decisions. The core focus of the PhD project will be on staffing and shift scheduling problems, including behavioral aspects. Additionally, strategic layout planning and the prediction of patient pathways are topics of research investigation.

The PhD scholarship is a full-time position allowing you to become a research scientist and benefit from the academic activities at the department. The salary is internationally highly competitive.

Department duty work (teaching) amounts to 420 hours (equivalent to three months of work in total over the three years) allowing you to focus on your PhD project.
