We are looking for
We seek Teaching Assistants entering the second or third year of Interaction design Bachelors or second year Interaction design Master education, who will continue their education in the fall of 2026. As Teaching Assistant, you will be part of a pool of students with main task to assist the teaching staff. We are looking for 5–7 candidates who will collectively cover approximately 350 working hours.

Work duties
The work tasks involve assisting staff within the K3 educations, first and foremost within mechatronics. Examples of tasks are:

  • Teaching, tutoring at workshops and preparing teaching activities related to programming, microcontrollers and mechatronics.
  • Administrative tasks and participation in research projects or artistic development work may also occur.

Qualifications
Only those admitted to first or second-cycle courses and study programmes may be employed as teaching assistants (Chapter 5, Section 10 of the Higher Education Ordinance).

Specific requirements for this position:

  • Only students enrolled in either the interaction design bachelors- or master programmes or equivalent educations are eligible to be employed as Teaching Assistants.
  • Practical competences shown in portfolio.

The following would be of benefit for the position:

  • Programming: Prototyping in digital materials are central in the ioio mechatronics lab and anyone applying for this position should be interested in developing their own programming skills and also take part in related education.
  • Material and hardware knowledge: Materials such as, wood, metal, paint and electronics are all part of the daily practice and as a Teaching Assistant in the ioio mechatronics lab you should be open to develop knowledge of all, and willing to implement your skills into teaching.
  • Digital tool knowledge: We are looking for students familiar with computers as a tool for basic photo editing, video editing, 3D modelling and programming.

In addition to formal competence, University's employees must possess the personal capacities necessary to perform the duties of the position well and to represent the University in the best possible way. To be relevant for the position as Teaching Assistant, you must have the ability to work within the teaching-environment in the interaction design bachelor- and master programmes.

The School of Arts and Communication
The School of Arts and Communication is part of the multidisciplinary Faculty of Culture and Society.
