Post-Doctoral Fellow in Machine Learning for Molecular Prediction of Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Aalborg Universitet (AAU)
Post-Doctoral Fellow in Machine Learning for Molecular Prediction of Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Jobbeskrivelse
The National Center of Excellence for Molecular Prediction of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (PREDICT), based at Department of Clinical Medicine, Aalborg University (AAU) in Copenhagen, is looking to recruit a talented researcher for a 2-year, full-time postdoc in machine learning from 1 October or soon thereafter.
Your work tasks
We are looking to recruit an excellent postdoctoral fellow to apply machine learning to rich molecular data and uncover the molecular basis of IBD. The successful candidate will build prediction models from high-dimensional molecular measurements, with a particular focus on proteomics, to identify early markers of disease onset and progression. The role centers on three connected themes: using molecular data for prediction, integrating signals across molecular modalities into multi-omic models, and drawing on genetics to test whether the resulting signals are causal.
The postdoctoral fellow will play a key role in multiple research projects, with responsibilities including study design, data analysis, manuscript preparation, presenting findings at international conferences, and mentoring students.
Your competencies
The ideal candidate has:
A PhD in machine learning, computer science, bioinformatics, computational biology or biostatistics Proven expertise in machine learning applied to molecular or other high-dimensional data Experience working with IBD or other immune-mediated diseases is desirable Familiarity with molecular data and multi-omic integration A history of high-quality publications Excellent writing and communication skills in English A proactive mindset and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills Experience using genetic data (e.g., Mendelian randomization or related approaches) to assess causality is preferred but not required.
Qualification requirements
Appointment as postdoc requires academic qualifications at PhD level.
