At Aalborg University Business School (AAUBS), a position as Postdoctoral Researcher in Innovation is open for appointment from October 1st or soon hereafter. The position is available for a period of 4 years.
The position is anchored in the IKE research group (Innovation, Knowledge and Economic Dynamics) and is connected to Aalborg University’s Innovation Academy. The postdoc will contribute to research, development, and evaluation activities aimed at strengthening innovation across Aalborg University.
Innovation at Aalborg University is broadly understood as the transformation of knowledge and creativity into solutions that create value for society, including technological, organizational, social, and educational innovation.
Your work tasks
The Postdoctoral Researcher will be expected to contribute to research and development within the field of innovation, including activities related to the Innovation Academy. The main tasks include:
- Developing an indicator framework for measuring innovation and its societal impact at Aalborg University, including alignment with national initiatives
- Mapping competencies and teaching capacity related to innovation across academic environments at Aalborg University
- Conducting evaluation and impact assessment of the Innovation Academy, including register-based analyses of innovation and entrepreneurship activities
- Developing and delivering courses and learning activities within innovation and entrepreneurship targeting researchers, students, and start-ups at Aalborg University
The postdoc is furthermore expected to:
- Contribute to research on topics such as the effects of innovation and entrepreneurship education at universities, including impacts on competencies, venture creation, and societal value creation
- Conduct independent research and publish findings in high-quality international journals
- Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration within and across faculties and with external stakeholders
Your competencies
Appointment as a Postdoctoral Researcher presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD level within innovation, entrepreneurship, economics, business administration, or a related field.
The successful applicant is expected to have:
- A strong research profile within innovation and/or entrepreneurship
- Experience with empirical research methods (quantitative and qualitative)
- Documented scientific publications or clear publication potential
- Interest in research on innovation and entrepreneurship in the higher education system
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in interdisciplinary environments
Experience with teaching, course development, or innovation-related educational activities will be considered an advantage.

Appointment as postdoc requires academic qualifications at PhD level.

Aalborg University Business School (AAUBS) is an internationally oriented business school established in 2020 and part of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. The school builds on a long-standing tradition in business and economics at Aalborg University and comprises a strong and growing research and education environment.
AAUBS is guided by the mission of achieving regional relevance and international impact through research, education, and collaboration with industry and society. AAUBS has a strong focus on addressing societal challenges related to innovation, entrepreneurship, digitalization, and sustainability.
The position is anchored in the IKE research group (Innovation, Knowledge and Economic Dynamics). IKE is an internationally oriented research group focusing on innovation, technological change, and the economic and societal dynamics of knowledge creation and use. The group conducts research on topics such as innovation systems, economic development, policy, and the implications of new technologies, including digitalization and artificial intelligence.
IKE combines theoretical and empirical approaches and is engaged in both fundamental and applied research. The group collaborates closely with international research partners as well as policymakers and industry stakeholders, contributing to knowledge on how innovation emerges and can be supported through education, policy, and institutional frameworks.
The work tasks are also closely connected to Aalborg University’s Innovation Academy and carried out in close collaboration with AAU Innovate. AAU Innovate is Aalborg University’s hub for research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. It supports interdisciplinary research, education, and entrepreneurship for researchers, students, and industry partners, with the aim of developing sustainable solutions for society.

Salary and terms of employment
The employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministerial Order on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities (in Danish) and protocol on certain terms of employment of academic staff at universities (in Danish).
Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the collective agreement between the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations and the state (AC collective agreement) (only in Danish) and protocol on certain terms of employment of academic staff at universities (only in Danish).
There is a mutual probationary period of 3 months for the position.
