About Kanpla
Kanpla is the leading canteen platform for contract caterers, trusted by some of the world's largest catering companies including Compass Group, Aramark, and ISS. We build software and sell supplementary hardware, including AI kiosks, that connect kitchens, guests, and data across thousands of locations. Over 200,000 users interact with our platform every month, whether ordering lunch through our app, browsing a digital menu screen, or paying at one of our AI kiosks. What makes Kanpla different is that we serve both sides of the canteen: guests get a seamless, modern experience across ordering, payment, and loyalty, while kitchen teams get smarter tools for menu planning, demand forecasting, and day-to-day operations. Better forecasting means chefs prepare the right amount of food, cutting waste and costs at the same time. Good for the planet, and good for the economics of our clients.
Join Kanpla as a Finance Associate
With 70 employees from 20 nationalities, growing 70%+ year-over-year, we are right in the middle of one of the most exciting chapters of our journey: cementing our US position and pushing into new markets like Germany and France. We are looking for a sharp, ambitious Finance Student Worker to join us in Copenhagen and get hands-on with the financial engine powering that growth. The role is 15–20 hours per week, with flexibility to work around your study schedule. We are targeting a September 1st 2026 start - applications close August 9th.
You will work directly with our Head of Finance, touching everything from international billing to building the automations that keep our finance function scalable. Our revenue runs across the Nordics, UK & Ireland, BeNeLux, and North America, with 3 entities including dedicated subsidiaries in the UK and the US. On top of that, we are actively preparing for a fundraising round in 2026, which means there is a real opportunity to get close to the venture capital and startup world for anyone with an interest in that space. There is no shortage of real problems to solve, and no ceiling on how much responsibility you can take on.
About the Job
This is not a "shadow and observe" role. You will own real processes from day one, work across international markets, and help shape how Kanpla's finance function scales as we grow into new geographies. We currently work with an external bookkeeping partner, ScaleUp, and our accounting stack spans e-conomic (DK), Xero (UK), and QuickBooks (US). Part of the role will involve collaborating closely with our external advisors to keep things accurate and on time. In the future, the ambition is to bring more of the finance function in-house, but for now the focus is on building a solid, scalable foundation together. We are also deeply focused on AI-powered automation. If you are excited about using modern tools to eliminate repetitive work and build smarter workflows, you will fit right in.
What You Will Do
- Handle day-to-day communication in the Finance Inbox, making sure nothing falls through the cracks
- Manage billing operations, including recurring software invoices and supplementary hardware invoices to international clients across our markets
- Own Accounts Payable and support a timely monthly close, including managing PLEO for company expenses
- Track and follow up on Accounts Receivable, keeping our cash flow healthy as we grow
- Assist with VAT reporting across multiple jurisdictions (Denmark, UK, Norway, Netherlands)
- Work alongside our external bookkeeping partner, ScaleUp, and support collaboration with external advisors
- Be part of shaping stronger financial controls and smarter automations so our Finance and Revenue Operations remain scalable at 70%+ YoY growth
- Collaborate with the RevOps team on billing automations
- Actively explore and implement AI tools to streamline finance workflows (we use Claude and OpenAI day-to-day)
- Provide ad-hoc support across Finance as needs arise
Our Tech Stack
We work across a broad set of tools: Fenerum for billing, e-conomic, Xero, and QuickBooks for accounting across our three entities, PLEO for expenses, Deel for international HR and payroll, HubSpot for CRM, and Google Suite for day-to-day work. We also use Slack, Figma, and actively lean on Claude and OpenAI for automation and productivity. You do not need experience with all of these, but comfort with learning new tools quickly matters a lot.
What We Are Looking For
- A Master's student with at least 1 year remaining, or a Bachelor's student in their final year with a strong interest in finance and accounting in a scale-up environment
- Some first-hand experience with accounting procedures or software, whether through coursework, a previous job, or personal projects
- An analytical mindset and an eye for when something does not add up
- Genuine curiosity about finance, accounting, and how scale-ups actually work operationally
- Enthusiasm for AI and automation as practical tools
- English proficiency is required
- Familiarity with SaaS metrics (ARR, churn, NRR) is a nice-to-have as it helps you understand the revenue context behind the numbers you work with day to day
Who You Are
- You are energised by working across different markets, currencies, and entities rather than intimidated by the complexity
- You take ownership and follow through: you spot the problem and propose the fix rather than waiting to be told, even when things are ambiguous
- You are detail-oriented but can also step back and ask what actually matters for the business
- You handle sensitive financial information with discretion and integrity
- You keep up with what is happening in finance tech and are curious about new ways of working
The Opportunity
This role has a real path to a full-time position. If you are great at what you do and the fit is there on both sides, we will do what it takes to make it work around your graduation timeline.
Why Kanpla?
- Real scale, real fast. 70 employees, 9 active markets, 3 entities, US expansion underway, Germany and France in our sights, and a fundraising round coming up in 2026.
- Ownership from day one. Every task you own has a direct impact on how we operate.
- A genuinely international team. Around 20 nationalities, hired across 10 countries.
- Flexible and outcome-driven. We care about results, not hours. The role is ideally Copenhagen-based since that is where our Head of Finance sits.
- AI-first mindset. We invest in the latest tools and expect our team to use them.
- Company paid lunch, MacBook and flexibility to work remotely.
- Salary above the standard student rate, based on experience.
How to Apply
Our process is fast and straightforward:
- Intro call to get to know each other.
- A short case study to test your financial & accounting skills.
- A final interview to dig into your skills and thinking focusing on the case study.
We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible, ideally no later than September 1st 2026.
Ready to take on something real? We would love to hear from you.
