Postdoc in MRI method development for fast metabolic imaging using a gradient insert - DTU Health Tech

Danmarks Tekniske Universitet

The Section for Magnetic Resonance at DTU Health Tech is seeking a strong candidate for a postdoc position tied to the research project "Volumetric mapping of brain dynamics by hyperpolarized MRI" funded by the Novo Nordic Foundation. The 21-month position is offered for development of methods (including sequences) for Magnetic Resonance Imaging using a high-performance uni-axial insert gradient. The main target is time-resolved metabolic imaging using hyperpolarized substances. You will join a highly collaborative research group where accountability and mutual support are core values. We work together to drive projects forward in a positive and engaging atmosphere.

Responsibilities and qualifications
To reach the project goals, and as part of your career development, you are expected to:

  • Help implement the hardware, methods, data infrastructure and analysis needed for the project.
  • Utilize your experience with insert gradients and with mitigating effects of gradient imperfections.
  • Apply your experience with sequence development and advanced scanner control for development of fast spectroscopic imaging methods for hyperpolarized substances.
  • Help prepare and conduct animal and human experiments.
  • Facilitate project progress and continuation, e.g. by grant writing, administrative support, research stays at external partners, and supervision of students.
  • Document and present the activities, also in scientific publications.

The project is conducted using a modern clinical 3T Premier whole-body scanner from GE Healthcare. Other main hardware components are purchased and need integration.

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). This is expected to be in the field of MRI method development, or you must have documented similar qualifications in this field.
