Are you studying textile design, design, textile engineering, or a related field? And are you curious about how textiles are developed from an initial idea into a finished product?

Kvadrat Product Development is looking for an intern to join our team in Ebeltoft from January for a minimum of five months.

As part of our team, you will get close to the development of Kvadrat textiles and gain hands-on experience with the creative, technical, and practical processes involved in bringing a textile from idea to commercial launch.

About the internship
Product Development works at the intersection of design, materials, colour, technical development, and commercial requirements. From Ebeltoft, our team drives and coordinates the development process in close collaboration with designers, textile engineers, suppliers, and colleagues across Kvadrat.

As an intern, you will work closely with the Product Development team, with a particular focus on curtains. You will not just observe the development process – you will take part in it, working hands-on with materials, colours, samples, testing, and ongoing development projects.

What you will work with
Your tasks will vary depending on ongoing projects and where they are in the development process. They may include:

Textile and colour development

• Supporting ongoing curtain developments
• Working with colour blankets, lab dips, development samples, and warp setting cards
• Preparing and organising textile and colour samples

Product development and testing

• Preparing materials for testing and evaluation
• Supporting different stages of the development process
• Working with textile performance and product requirements

Collection and product information

• Supporting collection mapping and product overviews
• Updating digital development overviews
• Contributing to naming processes and product information

Research and communication

• Conducting research and market analysis
• Preparing presentations, colour cards, samples, and other development material for internal teams and sales

What you will learn
Through a hands-on approach, you will gain insight into professional textile development and build your understanding of:

• The textile development process – from initial idea and sampling to commercial launch
• Textile materials, construction, colour, performance, and product requirements
• Curtains as a product category and the relationship between design and technical development
• How quality and sustainability are considered throughout the development process
• The balance between creative exploration and the structure and attention to detail required to bring a product to market

Who we are looking for
You are currently studying textile design, design, textile engineering, or a related field and have a strong interest in textiles, materials, and colour.

You enjoy working hands-on and appreciate both the creative side of development and the detailed, systematic work needed to turn ideas into finished products.

You are collaborative, organised, and detail-oriented, take responsibility for your tasks, and are comfortable working across different projects. You communicate confidently in written and spoken English.

Most importantly, you are curious, open to learning, and interested in becoming part of a collaborative design and development environment.
