The Brummerstedt Iversen group at Department of Chemistry, Aarhus University is seeking candidates for two post-doctoral positions within the fields of ultrafast crystallography and single crystal growth.

The positions each are for 2½ years. In case further external funding is secured within the academic area the candidates are assessed obviously qualified for, an extension is possible for up to a total maximum of four years of employment as a postdoc.

1) Pump-probe crystallography using XFEL
The first position has focus on pump-probe crystallography using X-ray free electron lasers (XFELs) to study atomic structures of optically excited small unit cell crystals. The project involves measurements, data reduction and structure refinement of large serial femtosecond X-ray (SFX) crystallography data sets measured on photoactive materials such as photocatalysts, photomagnets and photovoltaics.

The candidate must have a strong background in single crystal X-ray crystallography with specific experience in XFEL crystallographic measurements. The candidate preferably has a solid background in materials chemistry.

2) Single crystal growth
The second position has focus on synthesis of large single crystals using mirror, induction and Bridgeman furnaces. The project involves all aspects of crystal growth of advanced materials as well as subsequent crystal structure investigations using single crystal X-ray crystallography.

The candidate must have a strong background in single crystal synthesis as well as single crystal X-ray crystallography. The candidate preferably has a solid background in materials chemistry.

In the application, please indicate which position you are applying for.

The successful candidates will be involved in materials crystallography research in collaboration with other members of the Iversen group. The candidates must have a PhD in chemistry, crystallography, physics, materials science or similar.
