Quality Innovation Value Stream (IVS), Quality Assurance Project Management

Project Description
How can Quality Assurance contribute earlier and more effectively to decision-making in innovation projects?

As innovation projects become increasingly complex, cross-functional teams must make critical decisions under uncertainty regarding priorities, timelines, dependencies, resources, risks, and organizational readiness. Quality Assurance plays an important role in supporting project success, yet quality perspectives and risk insights are often introduced after key decisions have already been made.

This thesis project will explore how quality risk management can be used as a proactive decision-support mechanism within innovation projects. The student(s) will investigate how risk information is currently identified, interpreted, communicated, and applied in project governance and decision-making processes, and explore opportunities to strengthen the role of Quality Assurance as a strategic business partner.

Effective risk-informed decision-making depends on timely access to relevant information, knowledge, and insights. Therefore, the project will also explore how Generative AI and other knowledge-support tools may enhance the way risk-related information is identified, synthesized, communicated, and utilized across project teams. Rather than evaluating AI as a technology in itself, the focus will be on understanding how emerging digital tools can support knowledge enablement and help stakeholders make more informed decisions in complex project environments.

By combining perspectives from risk management, decision-making, quality management, organizational collaboration, knowledge management, and digital transformation, the student(s) will have the opportunity to develop practical recommendations and frameworks that strengthen risk-informed decision-making and support future ways of working within IVS Quality Assurance.
