The Investment and Business Case Senior Analyst is anchored in the Investments and Business Case team based in Boston, Massachusetts. Copenhagen Offshore Partners is the team behind Vineyard Wind, the nation’s first large-scale offshore wind in construction, and over 5GW+ of projects in three offshore lease areas.

As Business Case & Financial Analyst, you will support the identification and acquisition of new project opportunities, coordinate a cross-functional team to estimate capex/opex and cashflow forecast and manage the valuation process to accurately assign price and risk to offtake bids and seabed acquisitions. You will become an important part of the company and have key responsibilities for enabling growth across US markets. The role is a great opportunity for an experienced candidate with extensive knowledge from the Renewable or Infrastructure industry within valuation, business cases, investment approval processes, and corporate finance.

You will support initiatives including:

  • Develop, maintain and operate financial models for the valuation of offshore wind projects.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across technical, development and procurement teams to source inputs for the financial model including estimates of capex, devex, opex, energy yield, and revenue.
  • Lead financial modelling and valuation analysis of offshore wind projects in a variety of contexts:
    • Bid price optimization for offshore wind offtake RFPs/tenders for existing leases, and seabed tenders for new lease areas
    • Key supplier decisions, including selection of preferred suppliers and negotiation of key terms and conditions
    • Assessment of M&A opportunities
  • Support preparation of strategic decision material and financial updates to Senior management and Investment Committees
  • Support and facilitate key decisions with comprehensive energy market analysis, regulatory framework monitoring, high-level market strategy for value improvement of projects, including assessment of new offshore wind markets
  • Origination, evaluation and execution of contract with advisors and consultants for services such as power price forecasting, tax and accounting, technical DD, etc.

To succeed in this role, you have:
Undergraduate or master degree with an ability to demonstrate quantitative reasoning skills and a strong command of valuation and project finance topics. We are less concerned with your course of study and more concerned with your ability to use numbers and valuation metrics to drive decisions. Experience from a similar position in a large corporate, IPP, private equity or a consultancy and you:

  • Are interested in large and complex infrastructure projects
  • Have experience from the energy sector - offshore wind industry is preferred.
  • Have experience with valuation, business cases, investment processes, and project finance
  • Possess outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to use numbers to tell a compelling story about an asset
  • Are comfortable with working with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Are a self-driven team player with an entrepreneurial mindset and strong ability to navigate an organization and gain buy-in
  • Are dedicated and persistent with an eye for details
  • Have excellent communication skills and ability to present and communicate complex matters in a concise manner
