Funded traineeship for young graduates at the EU Delegation to Papua New Guinea

Text Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Papua New Guinea?

We offer:
A traineeship of up to 6 months within the Cooperation Section of the EU Delegation to Papua New Guinea, starting in May 2024.

The Delegation's Cooperation Section oversees the implementation of the EU's Development Assistance & Trade portfolios in PNG as well as the identification and formulation of future development assistance programmes and activities.

Main tasks:

  • Provide support in project implementation and monitoring ensuring highest level of compliance with EU rules and procedures.
  • Assist cooperation section colleagues including organization of dossiers, organization of meetings, and liaison with other sections within the Delegation and with Government offices, as well as with implementation partners.
  • Assist with the compilation of project briefs, reports and the analysis of proposals.
  • Assist with providing operational support to the trade officer and other programme officers within the section.
  • Ensuring that relevant information on implementation partners, private sector and business partners is up to date.
  • Any other work-related tasks as assigned by your Internship Supervisor.

Qualifications or special requirements:

  • For reasons related to local living conditions, personal safety and security, only Papua New Guinean nationals can apply for an internship.
  • Applicant must have a graduate degree with all pre-requisite course work completed in Business Administration, Economics, International Relations/ Development Studies or other related qualification deemed relevant for this internship.
  • The ideal candidate must be proficient in the use of essential IT applications.

Important information to read before applying
Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship).

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.

The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation.
