Student Assistant or Intern, Sustainability Strategy - Aarhus or Copenhagen
Arla Foods amba
Location: København V
Employment type: Part-Time/40 hours per week
Are you passionate about making a difference for nature? Do you want to gain experience in working with sustainability strategy in an international corporative with the ambition to lead sustainable dairy? Then this might be the perfect opportunity for you!
We are recruiting a student assistant and potential intern to support Arla’s sustainability strategy team to further develop our nature strategy. In sustainability strategy you will become part of a small diverse team that works across Aarhus and Copenhagen. We set the strategic direction for Arla’s work with sustainability - very dedicated to making a sustainable impact in our cooperative and beyond. To achieve our ambition, we work with our farmers, suppliers and direct operations as well as our internal experts. We are closely linked to leading global fora and frameworks, collaborating with and across industries to shape the development within and beyond our cooperative.
How you will make an impact
In this role, you will support the sustainability strategy team in developing our nature strategy focusing predominantly on how we drive change with our farmers to improve our impact on the environment. Our work revolves around multiple topics, but we expect to seek your support primarily on our work with
- Deforestation and conversion free (feed)
- Plant protection products (pesticides) and alternatives
- Regenerative field practices
- Piloting target setting frameworks
- Monitoring of habitats and nature on farm?
You will have a broad role in supporting us to develop our work, i.e. by
- Assisting in analyzing the on farm situation and development across our markets
- Retrieving key input from our local organizations and externals
- Drawing conclusions about environmental parameters from our extensive farm dataset
- Supporting the team in making decision proposals for internal and external use
What will make you successful
We are looking for a structured and analytical intern/student with a strong interest and knowledge in sustainability – knowledge of agriculture is a plus, but not a prerequisite. We see it as an advantage if you can start as an intern in the fall, ideally continuing as a student assistant after your internship (if deemed desirable), but you can also apply for a student position directly (please specify as part of your application). Ideally you have at least 2 years left of your studies and are based in Copenhagen or Aarhus able to come in to the office when working.
To succeed in this role, you should
- Have strong problem-solving & analytical skills Ability to break down problems, analyze quantitative and qualitative data, and develop insights to support strategic decision-making
- Possess well-rounded communication & presentation skills Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner, both verbally, and in writing, including PowerPoint
- Be curios & eager to learn Have a strong interest in sustainability and how to work on this in an Arla context and a natural curiosity to expand your knowledge and skillset.
- Have a collaborative mindset Be a true team player who shares insights, questions and concerns transparently and contributes to fostering a positive team environment
The role as student assistant requires approximately 15 hours per week as a student assistant, with flexibility to accommodate varying workloads, particularly around key project deadlines. Likewise, we value your academic commitments and offer flexibility to adjust the workload during exam periods.
Internships are open both for the Fall semester 2026 and the Spring semester 2027, and should be at least 4 months in either Copenhagen or Århus.
